Yes, California is a state. But, also, the theme of the park is California.California is not a theme. California is a state.
Nobody said that. You've been told the theme of the park is California. If you are going to tell me that DCA is suppose to be California
Nobody said that. It was said that the theme of the park is California. Also, by saying California is the theme, then you are saying everything inside of it is California.
No. The theme of the park is California. Therefore, if you're going to say anything, it would be to say that the theme is "Parts of California."
No. The theme of the park is California. What's funny is that here you guys are trying to make up your own theme
No. You asked a question. The question was: What is the theme of DCA? The answer is: The theme of DCA is "California." This isn't exactly a hard concept to understand. Does anyone else reading this have a problem understanding that as a theme? Speak up. Otherwise, I think it's been explained as well as it needs to be.Are you guys just trying to start an argument?
But thank you for your patience. I'm sure we all appreciate it.

Re: What is DCA's Theme? (Take 2)
If that is so true, then why did you vote for "An adventure through California "Disney style", replacing reality with Disney characters and stories." Were you lying then or now? Obviously, you believe the theme is something more than California. Furthermore, are you trying to say that the park's theme has nothing to do with Disney?

Re: What is DCA's Theme? (Take 2)
Any number of the ones that are labeled with California would fit. That seemed to be the best fit available, and best falls under the umbrella of California being the theme.
If that is so true, then why did you vote for "An adventure through California "Disney style", replacing reality with Disney characters and stories."
So, what did everyone else vote for, since you seem to think it ok to tell everyone how people voted? Or am I the only one who enjoys that privilege?
Obviously, you are not reading what I am writing. What I am saying is that the theme of the park is California.Obviously, you believe the theme is something more than California.
So I am not lying in either case. The theme of the park is California.
No. You don't have it straight. The theme of the park is California. The things you mention can all fall under that umbrella. So if I got this straight, the theme is not about the parts of California; it doesn't include all the best parts of the state that guests can enjoy in a single day; it isn't a representation of the culture and people of California; and it isn't an adventure through California "Disney style". It's just California with no connection to Disney.
What is the difficulty in understanding this sentence:
The theme of the park is California.
It is even stated in giant 10 foot letters across the entrance.
That it is a Disney-fied version of California, or a recreation of various parts of California is really beside the point. They are both correct in that they are part of the theme of the park, which is California.
No one else so far seems to have any trouble with this concept, that the theme of the park is California. You may or may not like the theme, think it has been implemented badly, but still, the theme of the park is California.
So, to sum up:
"Disney's California Adventure" is a Disney theme park. Its theme is California.
Or, in other words:
"Disney's California Adventure is a themed Disney park, with its theme being California."
I suppose I could continue to mix the wording around to match some sort of key phrase you are apparently requiring, but the jist of the whole thing is that the theme to the park is California.Last edited by jonvn; 02-19-2004 at 12:02 PM.

Re: What is DCA's Theme? (Take 2)
[QUOTE=refurbmike]I'm really trying to be patient...
Also, by saying California is the theme, then you are saying everything inside of it is California. Hollywood is not California, it is a part of California. Therefore, if you're going to say anything, it would be to say that the theme is "Parts of California."
QUOTE]
Obviously they cannot encompass the entire state of california that would be silly... some parts of Ca you would not want to have in DCA such as BLYTHE have you been to this gem of a city... average temp 115 all summer long... or Compton (are you going to have the "drive by limo ride")
of course they are showing the parts of CA that are unique to california, or milestones in california like the condor flats, or mountains and beaches(piers) California is one of the few places on Earth where you can SNow Ski in the morning and Surf in the afternoon...
its all California ( a remarkable place) thats how outsiders see it... they thing of California they see Hollywood, GG bridge, Wine, Piers, Route 66(I already saw that thread dont go there), redwoods , rafting etc...
California IS the sum of its parts and DCA attempts to show many of those parts as mini themed areas with in the whole...
It would be interesting to see of those who hate or at least have distaste for DCA, how many live in SO CAL... maybe that is part of the problem... maybe these folks are too jaded on the entire CA lifestyle...
trust me as some one that lived in So. Ca, for the first 30 years of life, and has been in Oregon for 10 years DCA is a goor Representation for someone visiting...
And the real question is IS DCA FUN... If not Dont go there... more space for me...
anyway I see DCA as a Montage of California highlights...DCA 1/2 the park, Same low price....

Re: What is DCA's Theme? (Take 2)
That's pretty much it. Up in the capital, they call it the "Many Californias" because the state is so very diverse.
California IS the sum of its parts and DCA attempts to show many of those parts as mini themed areas with in the whole...
That's what it has in it. Hollywood, Wine Country, Sierras, etc. Everything tied together under the main theme of California.anyway I see DCA as a Montage of California highlights...You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

Only in so far as they relate to California. As the theme for the park is California. Ever work with Venn diagrams? So I guess we could say the theme is also America, the West Coast, and Earth?
