Smile 25th Anniversary Ears & Celebrating Ideas?

Next Wednesday, 5-26, will be my husband and my 25th wedding anniversary. We will be celebrating close to home, since our 22 yr old cat developed some health problems recently and we don't want to be away from home for an extended period of time. We need to give her medicine each day and fluids via IV twice a week, so an overnight is about all we want to be away for at present.

My husband was able to book a room at the GCH for Tuesday night, at the PAP rate, so that was good. We wanted one king bed, but as usual, they said they could only book us with 2 queen beds, so we're hoping we can get a king bed when we check in. We'll be having dinner Tuesday night at Granville's and on Wednesday night at our favorite restaurant in the area, The Hobbit, in Orange.

We want to spend some time in the parks on Tuesday and Wednesday and I was wondering if y'all know, do they have bride & groom ears for anniversaries, or just honeymoons? We spent our honeymoon in NYC, so we missed out on celebrating it at the DLR.

Also, any ideas to make our special time there more special?

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can share!

Yes, we DO have a cat that's actually over 22 years old! Her birthday was in February! We lost her house mate last year, at age 21, due to some tumors that suddenly showed up & within 2 weeks she was so sick, lungs full of fluid & all, the vet said there was nothing we could do for her. So we had to have her put to sleep. It was the hardest decision we ever had to make, but there was no other choice for her. He said if she was his cat, he would've done the same thing.

Our Agatha holds the record as our vet's oldest patient! We named her "Agatha Christie", because she showed up on our doorstep one night (we had just come home from celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary in fact!) and it was a MYSTERY to us where she came from!! She's a real blessing!

So she actually is older than 22 years because you don't know exactly when she was born. Wow! What do you do with your cats to keep them well and alive so long?

I would recommend that since it is your anniversary that try to relax and do something fun at the parks like kiss on every ride or something. I bet if you get the bride and groom ears too then the CMs at the restaurants and elsewhere will do special stuff for you.

In this months Disney Magazine, a couple were celebrating their 50th at WDW. Their kids had gotten them bride and groom ears and painted 50 on each ear before giving them to them. Bring along a bottle of tee shirt paint and you could do the same thing in silver.
25 years married is a great accomplishment in this day and age! Big Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi "Net",
We know how old Agatha is, because when we found her that May, we took her to the vet immediately, to get her shots & all. He said she was born in February of that year, so I picked Valentine's Day as the day to celebrate it. We knew her house mate, Amanda, was 21, because we knew when she was born, when we "adopted" her from a couple at my husband's job at the time, as a playmate for Agatha, a year after we took Agatha in.

The vets we've had for the last several years have been continually amazed that we had the 2 cats, aged 21 and 22 years. We've always kept them as INDOOR-ONLY cats (they stay WAY healthier that way!), getting them their check-ups and shots as needed, and giving them lots of love all the time! Amanda was never sick, until the tumors showed up and Agatha had a bout with her kidneys about 5 yrs ago, but we got her thru that with medication & vet care. The rest of it we credit to God's grace in giving us such great kitties as companions. What a blessing!!

    Hi "Alpha",
We just got our copies of Disney Magazine the other day, so I'll have to check that article out.

We plan to check on the bride & groom ears, do some fun things in the parks and go to see Shrek 2, provided it's playing at the AMC there. The Hobbit in Orange is our favorite restaurant of all time, very romantic, so we'll do that Wednesday night.

Thanks again to you all, for all the ideas and I definitely agree, 25 years IS quite an accomplishment! It's been a lot of fun, but also a lot of hard work and commitment, to make it this far.

Talking A great 25th Anniversary was had by us!

Bummer of bummers! Would you believe the whole Disneyland Resort (VP included) was SOLD OUT of Bride ears, not only the 2 days we were at the resort to celebrate our 25th that was yesterday, 5-26, but also from before the Wednesday before, when my hubby made a special trip there, just to get them and set-up some surprises for our visit??!!

I couldn't believe every store in both parks, as well as World of Disney would be sold out of bride ears!! They had lots of the black top hats, with ears stapled to them, but no bride ears! Guess fewer guys buy their ears than the girls do. They said they also thought WDW was sold out as well and that they didn't expect to get any back in until mid-June at the earliest!!

Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed about this and want to write a letter to Guest Services or whatever department would be best to write to. Any suggestions?? That means that any brides there this month and probably next can't get their special ears. Seems like a major mistake was made in purchasing or something!

But besides that disappointment, we still had a really great time there! My hubby went there the Wednesday before, tried to buy the ears, but did succeed in buying the special limited edition Sleeping Beauty and Prince hand painted large tile picture. He got us #2, in the limited edition of 25, since there are 2 of us and it was for our 25th anniversary! He dropped this off at the GCH and had set-up with VP to have it put in our room for when we came in, along with some balloons, Mickey & Minnie bride & groom small plush, a box of chocolate truffles and an "autographed" photo of M&M.

We spent some time in the parks & bought our ToT photo when we rode it yesterday. I had him make a "Happy 25th Anniversary to us" banner, for us to hold up when the photo snaps, and it turned out OK, so we bought it. We also purchased the special Sleeping Beauty movie "book" replica (with real "jewels"), that has a special hidden compartment inside.

We had a really nice dinner at Granville's Tuesday night. We had met chef Jason on a previous occasion, when he took us on a guided tour of the wine room they'd just done and told us about some things to come for the restaurant. We were so impressed with him, my hubby decided to call and see if he could come up with something special for a celebratory dessert for our anniversary dinner. He explained that I liked DARK chocolate and Jason said he'd talk to the pastry chef, to see what they could do for us. I didn't know anything about this, so I was quite surprised to see Jason, when he came over to our table to talk to us again & show us the new additions they'd made to the wine room.

After dinner, they brought out an AMAZING dessert!! On a large square dish were two chocolate creme brules with a hazlenut topping each, but the most amazing part was the chocolate on the dish! It was a 3-D dark chocolate sculptured display, with large heart shapes cut out of chocolate and an amazing sugar rose! One of the heart shapes had pink roses embossed or whatever onto the chocolate and cut into it were the words "Happy 25th"! There were other chocolate pieces around the display. We were blown away and took pictures of the display, so we could show our friends when we got home. When we got our bill, they only charged us for our dinner and 2 creme brules. When my husband mentioned they forgot to charge us for the special display, they said it was their gift to us for our anniversary! We thanked them profusely, made sure to mention it to the manager who was there that night and plan to write a letter to Jason's boss, to tell him what a great job they did for us!

On our way back to GCH, we saw Shrek 2 and totally enjoyed it! A great movie to celebrate with. When we got back to our room, we found the lights were turned down low, rose petals were put on the pillows of one of the queen beds turned down in the room, along with the room robes and slippers by the side of the bed.

Wednesday night, we had dinner at our most favorite restaurant, The Hobbit, in Orange. My hubby had pre-arranged with a local florist to have a beautiful arrangement, in a pretty glass vase, of 25 long-stemmed roses (one for each year) set on our table waiting for us when we got there. After dinner, they brought us each a glass of their special anniversary liqueur. It was the perfect ending to a terrific anniversary!
