Question Source of Pirates of the Caribbean Smell

I have been talking to a couple of people about this... Pirates of the Caribbean has a distinct smell, and many of you know it and love it. But, my question is: What is the source of the smell? Some people that I ask say it is mold/mildew, others say it is the chlorinated water, while some say that the smell is intentionally pumped into the attraction. So, here is my question:

What exactly is the source of the Pirates of the Caribbean smell?

Hopefully, this topic will create a solid answer to this question. And, we will know for sure what the smell that all of you love on Pirates of the Caribbean is caused by. Thanks to those who answer!

The air conditioner. I've smelled the air coming out of it before. It probably has mold in it.

Well, hopefully it's not the kind of mold that gets you sick. Every time I pass by an A/C on Pirates, I put my hand in front of the A/C.

Not to change the subject. But when I rode Matterhorn in the beginning of this month it had a new smell during the chainlift sequence(beginning). It had a nice smell of old grease for the chains. I loved it!! It use to smell like clorine from the water but now that is gone. This new smell enhances the ride. hehehehee...

    Anyone smelled this recently?

Re: Source of Pirates of the Caribbean Smell

I thought i could share a little lesson on mold. this information is from medical journals,so you can look it up if you want. "Toxic mold may be the next new health panic that is not supported by evidence. the toxic mold story is the following : there is a very unusual type of mold(stachybotrus) that releases spores in high amounts that could be toxic in the lungs of infants or children. This study has been discredited. There are people who are allergic to mold(like those allergic to dust or have hay fever) but it is not toxic. if you have a moldy house it is because dampness exists and this should be fixed as dampness is not a good thing. but the idea that fatigue, concentration, and lumbago are due to mold and you deserve millions of dollars,is preposterous. to lawyers mold is gold, and millions have already been paid out.
in closing the research behind the mold epidemic is junk science at it's best there is no hard evidence that mold causes the problems you hear about. but lawyers will keep the ball rolling as long as they can.

    Thanks for your time
