    Couple questions Nemo

Why is the Great Movie Ride cool? Never been on it, but from what i've heard of it, it doesn't sound interesting. Is there a video?

Second, why would the muppetts spoofing that ride be funny? Wouldn't the people who only went on the orlando one find it funny?

actually the great MUPPET movie ride, not the movie ride at MGM,the great muppet movie ride is a concept that WDI was playing around with a few years ago,Jim Hill talked about it in one of his articles,I will try to dig it up.

It is basically a Pirates-style dark ride that feature the Muppets depicting scenes from famous films. So you dget a Kermit "singing in the rain",or a Miss Piggy depciting Dorothy from Wizard of Oz,etc...It sounds great,Id love to see it come to fruition.

I saw it when I was in kindergarden some parts of it were more impressive then others and as a kindergardner that alien coming outta the ceiling I believe? was freaky :P

it's basicaly a ride through all the other movies and it's got lotsa animatronics and it's got a human actor driving it at some part during the ride though your tram type vehical will get hijacked when I rode it it was gangsters shooting at our driver that made him run away and then another guy drove it, it was pretty cool

anywho the Muppet Movie ride would've been a ride through the movies that made fun of everything that happens in the Great Movie ride using the Muppets, it was supposedly going to go into that section of MGM were all the props are

I don't think it'd be as great or as funny as Jim Hill discribes it though. Have you ever read his article about what ToT was supposed to be before they added the Twilight Zone too it 9_9 it was supposed to be the most HILLARIOUS thing you've ever seen.

To hear Jim Hill describe it MGM would've been the most funniest place on earth or some crud, I just find most of that hard to believe and I doubt that THAT much of the humor would be successful with THAT much of the audience. That and you have to wonder how much of the humor would be successful on the second ride through. Just because a joke is funny 100 times doesn't make it funny 101 times.

but wouldn't the muppetts be spoofing the MGM ride? And then wouldn't you need to see the MGM ride to get the jokes?

the MGM ride takes you for the most part through the scenes of famous old movies so no if you know old (great) movies then you'll get the Great Muppet Movie ride

I still hope they don't build it in DCA

and isn't the MGM attraction up for revision now because some of it's movies arn't considered "great" anymore?

Any ideas for So-Cal heroes? I think the Beach boys have been done to death in DCA and they dont quite rock hard enough for a roller coaster. Maybe a swing ride but not a roller coaster.
Sorry but I dont even know who No Doubt is. I know you will all laugh at me for this one. It might be my age. But this does make the point that bands that have stood the test of time and are inter-generational would work better. i.e everyone knows Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Beatles, etc.... not to say these bands should be used. Just that these are examples of bands that are known whether you are 17 or 50 years old.

Wait, aren't most members of No Doubt in their 30's? If you don't know who they are, it's certainly not because of your age. The unique thing about No Doubt versus almost any other SoCal band is that they're actually from Anaheim. To boot, their first big album was called Tragic Kingdom (an obvious reference to MK), and they even sampled the spanish speil from the monorail in one of the songs.

However, associating the ride with any one band might not be the best idea, no matter who that band is.

Acutally, I'll bet you do. I'm 3earseek years old and I am certainly not a popular music expert. Gwen Stefani is the lead singer (she's the cute but flat chested blonde chick - and props to her for not buying "aftermarket accessories" by the way) and I'm sure you've heard them in the background (if not the foreground).
Songs included "Just A Girl", "Hey Baby", "Underneath It All", "Running" and their first hit "Don't Speak" (Hush, Hush Darling).

If they DID use a band, No Doubt would be perfect, as has been discussed ad nauseum here. Not only are they a truly local band, but their music quite accessible (Ska-Pop - Reggae - Rock).

Still, I really want to go on The Great Gonzo Coaster - You will now be strapped to a steel track and hurtled through three loops, two corkscrews and a 5 story drop by an rocket attached to your back while reciting Shakespeare........

no,the Muppets would be spoofing the movies, the "Great Muppet Movie Ride" was just the working title,it was nothing offical nor was it meant to be a spoof on the MGM attraction.

for some reason JimHillMedia.com is blocked from my work computer, but if you go to that site, and check out the archives,he has a few articles on the concept behind the ride,it would be a "Pirates" of the next generation.

Ya know what would be cool would be to theme it around KISS, another long-lasting band with international appeal. THere would be alot you could do with that.

Times on Tower of Terror: 33...and counting! earseek

Can we go on it again?!?
