Tiki Room... "interactive" elements missed today

I think they wanted a funny sounding german bird, saying funny sounding things. To say that audiences in the 60s were somehow naieve to the concept of a mobile may not be a correct belief.

As for Batman....Caesar Romero was awsome.

I think over anylizing the Tiki Room is kind of unproductive. I you want to really go into it; I think the place was built during a time when making fun of Germans was a really grand thing to do. So maybe that's why the redundancy of the dialogue? Ever see Hogan's Heros?

Wally is explaining who wrote many of the jokes and the style of humor it was intentionally written in.

I would say that the only thing that may be slightly dated about the Tiki room is the caricatures that the birds represent. Probably the jokes work as well as they ever did, but some of the impersonations may be lost on little kids or those so culturally deprived as to not recognize the archetypes, if not the specific performers being spoofed.
