Wow, Paradise Pear looks really different in that plan. Not only is the land different, but Screamin' is as well. You can even see that flume ride they have in all the illustration going thru Screamin' into the bay. As a matter of fact that is a different DCA than we know today. Look at HBP and Condor Flats. Look at the waterway that runs around Grizzly Peak Recreation. Heck, even the Grand Californian has a different layout.

To me that DCA looks like it has a better layout than the one we see today. It looks larger and to have a better flow to it. Now it would be nice if we had a description of what would have occupied those structures.

Also, what is that behind Frontierland where Circle D would be? lol

My idea has always been to bulldoze the Paradise Pier Hotel (I know, it will never happen) and build a large Victorian Seaside hotel (a la Hotel Del Coronado, Magic Kingdom Hotel, Grand Floridian, whatever you want to call it) that would visually unite Paradise Pier with a new Bay Area replacement for Route 66. I also envision the Bay Area to be built on a hill, so that the uppermost tier of that hill would house DVC villas resembling San Francisco's Victorian "painted ladies". These would offer great views of the Bay Area, as well as Paradise Pier.

That Magic Kingdom Hotel could be themed in sort of a Miami/Hollywood style like they're building in Hong Kong. It seems to have only enough land for one tower, so this style would make a lot of sense. Besides, there is a Grand Californian Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel already, so why not a Hollywood-themed hotel as well.

While driving down Ball Road today, I noticed a "for lease" or "for sale" sign in the small lot outside the motel that runs alongside the Mickey Parking stucture (at Flore Street). I can't think of the name of it right now. Maybe Disney will bulldoze that and build a new hotel there? It's kinda away from the other hotels tho.

I bet "Magic Kingdom Hotel" is just a working name for this hotel. if when it is built it would probably get a new name.

As for themes, I think a Victorian or Polynesian theme would be great. The polynesian theme would at least allow for a think bern of tropical foliage to be planted around the hoptel to help make it feel more tropical and secluded. But I also think a theme that is different from the themes found in Vegas or WDW would also help attract more attention to the hotel. A Mediterenean style hotel has been planned and replaned for WDW since the 70's. Maybe a revised version of that hotel could be brought to DL.

I am all for a 4th Disney hotel to be built. I also hope that its a deluxe style hotel. Disney does these better than their budget hotels. Plus the area around DL has a lack of upscale rooms. This is the hotel market Disney does best and needs to chase in Anaheim. More rooms will also help the bottom line with some of that money going back to help fix up DCA (hopefully)

yeah that map is 1997 so it makes sense that many things changed... also the parking lot to the SE of DCA is much bigger, so DCA ended up bigger than the 1997 plan.

Uh... no. Disneyland Hotel refers to Disneyland park. It was built and named 45 years before Disneyland was ever a resort.

Perhaps a moderate resort would work. WDW's moderates all look very nice (I love how Coronado Springs looks), just have a few fewer amenities than the Deluxe resorts. The fact that there are cheaper hotels around should mean nothing. There are certainly cheaper hotel rooms around WDW in Orlando, but Disney does those places one-up with theming and amenities. If anything, the DLR needs to start tapping into the wallets of those families currently staying at Good Neighbor Resorts. I think having Hotel Hollywood in Southern California might get a little repetitious...I'd actually like to see Disney go with the opposite type of theme and make it look like a ski-resort with theming similar to how Blizzard Beach looks (specifically Lottawatta Lodge for those of you who have been to Blizzard Beach). It lends itself to a nice pool area and they could even have a miniature golf place like Winter Summerland.
