Great ideas!
THIS is the types of things they should be spending money on right now,not re-locating exsisitng TL rides etc....they should be focusing thier efforts on this Route 66 area of DCA,its the weakest part of the entire resort....but any upgrade or new land wont happen anytime soon,Ouimet has is eyes only focused on DL.

Focused on DL for a good reason I think. Can't forget that they just spent over 100 million on that big E ticket over there at DCA.
I said it before, but I do believe Disneyland does deserve this attention. DCA needs it too sure, but the 50th events were priority for this year. The holes over in DCA will be filled soon enough.

You know what they could probably get creative with the budget and at the same time that a modifictaion was done to route66, they added some more rooms to the Grand Californian. What if they hid a bit of the construction process of this modification into the expansion of the hotel.
This is what i am suggesting. I am sure everyone knows that a good portion of DTD is actually the first level of the structure for the hotel. the upper levels are rooms. Why not use the same idea in the new reconstruction at route 66. Why not add a another wing of the hotel with the bottom level being some of the stores, restuarants and show buildings for this new area. Lets say that Mullholland drive was enclosed and turned into a fast "d" level attraction. You add a well themed roof and back wall to the attraction for maintenance use. the second third an fourth lvel would then become rooms for a new wing of the hotel. The side facing the hotel would be themed to match the rest of the hotel and the side of paradise pier would then be themed to match the seaside village area. Now you could place some of the cost of this development into the budget for the hotel expansion. I would not mind having a room with a view of this new seaside village with a beautiful low lit pier and lagoon area at night. The lagoon and pier would be in a distance since this new village would take over the jumping jelly fish area. With the side facing the golden zypher themed similiar to the rest of the village but with a bit of that whimsical pier elements added. I would go one step further and build a good size building that would take over the amphitheatre. This building would be completely empty inside. the side facing the golden dreams/village area would be themed to fit that area. the side facing the pier area would be a large foldaway facade that would reveal permanent bleachers/viewing area for a nighttime show. This would help add more viewing area that is needed on that side of the lagoon.

with all the talk of this Tomorrowland remake arn't we forgetting DCA's own two year project (which is admitedly smaller then TL's 5 year one but still I remain optimistic) I'm hoping this project covers areas of the Pier in praticular (beyond the weak spots in Hollywood, mr Hill *as inaccurate as I find him to be* seems convinced that the Hollywood enahncement swill only take up a few months time)
with the enhancement project I'm hoping they give areas like Route 66 special attention along with the rest of the Pier
I also hope they cut back the bug saturation in the farm area of DCA for more on that of course I have the thread http://www.miboards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22956
ahh posting links again it's as though I were eating sugar while posting (my energy level is up today)

I agree with you on the bugs land area. I liked the addition of flicks fun faire but hated what they did with the existing farm area. I agree that a small coaster a la barnstormer would have fit well on the south side of the land replacing some of the planters and watering area near the small stage. The buildings that were suppose to house real farmes selling crops (stupid idea) should have been used as an indoor portion of heimlich ride. The ride could have taken a wrong turn into the broccoli gates and down towards the long buildings. to make thisinteresting the foliage next to the cereal box and the buildings could have had green screens that would allow people to see the heimlich trains but the people on the ride could not see the farm area.
the rest of the land should have been kept themed to agriculture with maybe another smaller kid attraction themed to farming occupying the unused fastpass area. the bugs characters could then have been used for theming purpose around a well themed farm. Another thing that would have worked was more clovers.
The clovers and large grass stems should have continued over the cereal box and extended out toward the farm area in a smaller scale as it got farther away from the cereal boxand geared toward the bugs show since that attraction is also suppose to give you the feeling of shrinking into an underground ants nest. Then the idea of shrinking would have been emphasised. Now the farm area would transition better to the farm area which would transistion better from the reality of the California agriculture theme to the fantasy of bugs that talk

I agree on the grass thing that'd be terrific for making the shrinking effect more apparant (espcialy since it's too late to build an indoors bugs land)
as far as the rest goes I like it but I'm still going to insist on Living WIth the Land for those farmers buildings with the rest of the ride being expanded out the back
of course that's just me I like Living WIth the Land
Californiaerizing it would be great
