Mr. Toad and friends characters

I was at Disneyland in June with my granddaughter (returning in November!!) and NO ONE in line around us knew the book Wind in the Willows....and even sadder, when we rode Dumbo, no one knew why the CM was handing out black feathers (okay, they were plastic!). The CM got very excited because I knew!!

I am not sure how much fun some of the rides, especially in FantasyLand can be if you do not know the stories?? Part of the magic is seeing the characters you knew and loved in books.

Of course when I was growing up (a 61 one year old Disney "kid" now) the movies were only seen at the theaters, so even that made the character/ride viewing at Disney more special.

I can't believe people didn't know what the black feather were for. I could understand a couple people maybe not knowing, but not the whole group except you. Why even go to Fantasyland and Toontown if you do not know the characters and stories?

I have seen old pictures of Mr Toad characters from years and years ago somewhere on the web. I'll have to look for them.

For those who don't know who Mr. Toad is, they can ask him and he can explain he is the squire of Toad Hall and the main character in the story The Wind in the Willows. I was wondering, is Toad Hall Mr. Toad's mansion?

By the way, that costume turned out pretty GOOD!
