Disneyland's Kennel Club Review

We arrived at the Kennel Club around 8am ... I had to fill out a little form ... the CM wasn't the friendliest person, which worried me since I was leaving my dog with him ... but I just figured this CM had to come off as an authority figure to the dogs ...

My dog was given locker number 24 (not actual lockers but that was the vibe lol) ... he was going to be surrounded by other dogs already there and I freaked out b/c my dog is not social ... I told the CM my problem and he let me pick where to place Gucci (my dog's name) ... I put him in locker 16 ... which was in the corner but still had a slight window view of the Monorail going by, which probably freaked Gucci out...

You have the option to have kennel feed your dog Disney food dry or wet (Purina) or your own food ... I decided to bring Gucci's food as well as feed him myself ... the Kennel provides well made paper bowls for food and water ... I bought Gucci's own bowls, food, and water ... and his blanket and chew stick... (yes, he is spoiled, his name is Gucci after all, which says a lot)

This was the first time I have ever left my dog with a "stranger" besides the groomer ... I was getting a tad up set over leaving him b/c he started to give me the "sad look" ... the mean old CM (seriously, he wasn't the nicest man but like I said he must have to come off that way to the dogs) told me not to worry and have a good time at the park ...

I went back around 1pm to walk Gucci ... walking down "doggy row" (that's what it felt like) I saw some of the most misbehaved dogs ... one pee-peed all over the kennel bar door, another ripped his paper bowl into confetti, another knocked their dry food and water out of their locker ... then there were the ones that thought you were coming to save them ... I was fearing other dogs were placed by Gucci ... but he had no neighbor next to him or below him

There is a side door next to the kennel to take your dog ... once I saw two big dogs in there I knew Gucci wouldn't do well in the environment ... I took him out to the pick up/drop off area on Harbor and he did just peachy there ... he even felt so comfortable he went "number 2" which I picked up

I put him back in his locker and he hid under his blanket ... I came back at 5pm to feed Gucci and walk him ... I fed him outside the kennel with no people around ...

The only thing I did not like was the pee from that one dog was still not cleaned up in the walkway ... are the CMs supposed to clean that or the owner?

I went back to pick him up after Mickey's Halloween Treat and a CM came out from the back with some big gloves on ... at this point I had to laugh b/c I can only imagine the kennel stories they have lol ... Gucci was given a "Certificate of Distinguished Merit" for being a "outstanding Guest" ... which I am sure they give even to the naughty dogs ...

I put Gucci's Zero costume on and we walked back to the parking garage ... people got a kick out of his costume and a guest dressed as Sally asked to take a picture ...

Here are some pictures ... camera phone quality lol...

he had the shakes for a good hour after we left ... but after that he was fine ... he was more up set/confused about going to a hotel and not our home ...

We would only bring him again if we had no one to watch him at our home

Thanks for the report! My girlfriend is debating using the kennel this Saturday.

Holy smokes, I'm not a small dog fan, nor a fan of dog's named Gucci, but that is the cutest dog I've ever seen! Love the costume, too!

Thanks for the pictures AND for the report of the kennel. Very thorough. Would you mind letting us know the price?

Price is $15 ... if you want to use Disney's food there is no extra charge

I love how it looks like your dog took the picture...and he's giving you the whole "eat it" look.

That was a great report...and very helpful. I'm always nervous leaving my dog anywhere. It's good to know there's an option at DL.

The way you were describing how unsocial your dog is, I was expecting a slightly larger breed. Pretty funny.

Cute pictures, too. My German Shepherd's going to be a witch this year.
