I was thinking of you, WW while reading the update. These are the exact type of changes you've been proposing since day 1 regarding theming.Originally Posted by WrongWay

11-08-2005 08:41 AM #22These are my "minimum requirements" to consider this a good Disney theme park. Not the ideal, but very, very good! And within a reasonable budget, which my ideal changes are not.

I am still very much against the idea of changing Pirates >_>
however as far as these DCA changes go most of them sound alright
I don't care what happens to Condor Flats the old theme was fine the new theme sounds just as well since you can see the Grand Californian from there anyways
the Farm sounds a bit strange what with a Bugs Land and ITTBAB sticking around, I could deffinatly see some of the farm area being sacrificed though
as for Golden Dreams being moved I think I've said long before that it'd make more since in the plaza were it could be very similar to Lincoln in Disneyland
it also makes more since because Golden Dreams highlights and underlines the theme of the park so it should be one of the first things for first timers to see (in theory)

I might be in the minority, but I like the airfield vibe, and I really like the music in the land. But the Grizzly area is also one of my favs."Have you been on Autopia before....I tell you. You don't drive it, it drives you."- My Grandfather

I'm with you, Chavez, I've always liked the airfield feel of the Flats. But the proposed changes (if true) would be just as nice, if not very original.

I, too, would be sad to see Condor Flats go. While many here despise it, I've always liked the look. I think it would be a waste for them to move Golden Dreams. I doubt many more would go see it if it just relocated.

Wow. I just went and actually read what Al has to say, and if what he says is true (grain of salt, grain of salt), I'm REALLY excited. The whole Pirates thing, well, I wasn't real fired up about it, but the way it's described here, it could actually be a real hit! Sounds like while they're tweaking it, they're still maintaining the original integrity of the "ride".
As for the DCA ideas, I love the thought of stretching out the Grizzly area...the whole "deserted airfield" thing, hell, I never even knew what it was, and if they were to paint Soarin' green, I think it would be really amazing.
It seems as if both parks are getting back to the way things should have been. Continually coming up with new and fresh ideas, always making sure things are clean and crisp, making the customer the first priority. Good job thus far, Disney.MouseInfo Moderator

I am with you Chavez, i like the feel of the desert airfield 9aybe because i have seen several and the place looks so much like them) I just think i like the idea of seeing a green building. I could go with the adding of some landscaping but why spend money on an area that really does not need it.
I rather see them spend that money on route 66.
With the possible removal of Golden Dreams that area will be a huge piece of real estate for a brand spanking new coastal town.
What i find interesting about the proposed changes in this article, are the similiarities to what we were discussing in another post.
Not long ago iI as others had suggested that the next section to change should be the sun court. Removal of the sun and the addition of more buildings to serve as background and cover sightlines behind it. We also suggested the change of Golden Dreams with an entrance where the sun is and using the underutilized extended bugs queue, fastpass area and citrus groves to build another building that would house the golden dreams movie.
We also spoke about the pier needing more wood to help enhance the 20's theme.
This does sound exciting and the update was thrilling (just which he had sticked to the update and kept his opinions about DCA to himself)
Now all we need is Marcie or Michael to gives us their insites on the supposed changes now that Al has spilled some of the beans.
The time frame mentioned by AL sounds quite rapid for so many changes.
He says with al this could happen by opening of Incredibles winter of 2007. This sounds a bit odd they usually open attractions in spring. Two years is not very long for so many changes so i am guessing if some of these things are real we will start seeing walls popping up as soon as the Christmas holidays have passed.

With the whole green building thing, I see so many more possibilities of a tie in with Soarin' and the surrounding forest area, than with the abandoned airfield thing, I don't know why. A huge green building, a secretly housed air project, nestled within the confines of our forests. I think you could do a good tie in to both our military and our smoke jumping friends with this sort of thing.

I am also really excited about teh DCA changes. I was not enthused about another Pixar ride, but the Incredibles could really fit into the wharf theme. It just seems like a great place for a comic book battle. An abandoned cannery...it really feels like 1950's Batman. I love it! In addition, I am all for the farm being removed (wish bug's would be also). I would miss Condor flats, but it would lend to a better overall creative vision to change it. They can do so much more with an exbaned Grizzly Area, and Condor flats had no room to grow on it's own. DCA is moving in a great direction. hopefully great new rides come with an expanded vision.
That said.....the pirates redo is a force-fit and it sucks. Let's find Jack Sparrow....is this Where's freakin' Waldo. Up until that point of the new story, I was totally on board."I am the terror that flaps in the night...I am the combination lock on the vault of justice.........."
