I read in Disney Magazine about two years ago that DCA's Tower of Terror would lack the ability to leave the shaft and go forward through that room (which, I also believe makes MGM's a lot more fun) was because the MGM's version has most of its breakdowns in that room, or something similar to that. It was probably really budget cuts, though.

I read that, too, and sadly that part is just so awsome re-doing it in DCA would have still been worth the breakdowns considering DCA's doesn't even seem to go pasta 13minute wait all that often
This Weekend Tracy and i are going to double team Don Guise with our big ideas...

I think both rides are excellent interpretations of the ride concept. One thing that always bugs me about WDW's venerated "5th Dimention" hall is that it's incredibly rough and noisy. The elevator car bangs and clanks like crazy. At DCA, the effect of falling right when the "Ghost Guests" fall is a great variation, without all the noise and "here it comes!!!" suspense. It's fun to have it more of a surprise, without the buildup. One thing I agree, DCA's needs more lush landscaping outside, but maybe this will be addressed if the Hyperion gets its' rumored lobby next door.

As a native californian who is at disneyland 2 times a month, I have only been to WDW once, and after riding floridas TOT twice i say WDW's TOT is much better than DCA's

I have seen only videos of the Florida version, and I've rode the DCA twice. For those who like the 5th demension, you can keep it. I love the mirror trick, which works well with THE LOST EPISODE! Remember these are supposed to be lost episodes and being raised on the Twilight Zone series, it does a nice job of setting things up. There is no 'lets' travel to the 5th demension and then after a long pause drop.' It's the mirror, the hallway and then drop. It's quick. I'm ridding it to drop, so drop me.

BINGO! This is my main gripe with the DCA version too.

Seems to be a slow movin' train up ahead, so we've got to sit here for a while....

Wow you guys..
I haven't even been on Tower of Terror... i know it's hard to believe.. everybody has.
I am soo scared to go on this ride!
Is it really scary?
Oh and one of the most thrilling rides i've been on is Rock N' RollerCoaster in MGM Studios.
Is the Tower of Terror scarier than RNRC?

12-27-2005 12:25 AM #18To me, DCA's feels slower. WDW's is a cycle ride. DCA's, you have to wait for the same vehicle to return and it feels like an eternity. The Disneyland TOT has a nicer basement area with two levels. I think that speeds things up a bit.
I've always thought this too. WDW's feels like you actually take a journey. DCA's feels like a hasty drop ride. For me, the biggest problem with DCA's ToT is that it doesn't trasport you anywhere.
DCA's does take advantage of 10 years advanced sound effects though. And their boiler room is more interesting to be in. And the sign placement isn't confusing. But WDW's will always be the better attraction.
I have always been disappointed by RnRC. I like the launch and first loop immensely, but everything after that is pretty lame. Tower of Terror is scarier because of its theme and because it deals with ghosts. Would I say it's more intense? Yeah, I'd say that TOT is more intense than RnRC. Especially when the drop sequences are random.Oh and one of the most thrilling rides i've been on is Rock N' RollerCoaster in MGM Studios.
Is the Tower of Terror scarier than RNRC?Just here. Nowhere.

Tower scares the crap out of me. I always grab onto the person sitting next to me and scream like a little kid with a skinned knee.... But I love it. The only thing I never understood was that the video in the library room says that the guests were in a regular elevator and then we go into a service elevator. I never have really gotten the connection.
