No, I'm not kidding. American Waterfront, with its power poles and fire escapes and neon signs and trolly tracks, is well-done, mundane, reality, garbage.

I truely hope Disney has learned its lesson with well-done, mundane, reality, garbage, and does not waste any more money putting these real-world, crap themes into theme parks.

IMO they have learned their lesson, and that's why you will see more of it going in.

I don't understand. What is this lesson that you think they learned?

True. But reality taken back to a time period none of us can go to isn't. Like a turn of the century San Francisco or 1930's L.A.

I read that these changes were just a test and pale in comparison to the changes about to happen to other areas, i.e. entrance, Sun Court and Condor Flats.

It's headed in the exact opposite direction you think it needs to go. You really can't speak for everyone.

So far, I am really very happy with all the rumors. Trolley and all.

I think they have learned that the majority of the people that are entering the parks that have this "reality" based theming are guests that enjoy it. Those that enjoy the fantasy based are going to Disneyland. Therefore, it's a success, and they will continue to include it in those parks that are not "Disneyfied".

I hope you are wrong. I hope the placemaking is more imaginative than power poles, trolly tracks, fire escapes, curbs, neon signs, sidewalk cafes....

Every day, the pounding of the tell-tale heart says you may indeed be correct. All this talk of a trolly, Cinder mentioning the transportaton hub proposal, expansion of the cannery row with fisherman's wharf, Route 66 not going away, what I saw of the backlot update (the non-reality parts looked good (trees on a backlot, paving past Muppets to the fountain and the Mickey fountain), but not nearly extensive enough(and the bathroom area is horrid)).

Everyday, my hopes for this project plummet.

The transportation hub proposal is nothing more than a rumor, I don't recall me ever mentioning anything about it, other than what's been on the internet, and Nemo's thread asking for ideas.

Disney park design at its best. I'm just blown away.

Where'd you get the photo, doppio? That's gorgeous. I like the cruise ship in the background.
