This keeps coming up, but Jungle Cruise was inspired by Walt Disney's True-Life Adventures, not The African Queen.

And Original Family Band? I have never heard that.

some scenes were cleary inspired by TAQ, such as the hippos and the ruins. It was a combination of both, from what I've read
I think its called
The One and Only Original American Family Band, its about the Cleavland elections, but theres music used in the queue, and its a western town with very similar qualities to Big Thunder, including a dropping population.

Personally, I don't see the connection.

As for the "two interactive rides based on Toy Story" argument, I just think that's WAY picky. The TS characters are popular, and will make the ride popular. If it was another BUZZ interactive ride, OK...but it's not.

Taken from ( http://www.disneyworldtrivia.com/tri...nglecruise.php )
The 1955 Disney True-Life Adventures documentary "The African Lion," set in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, follows a family of lions through the changing seasons. This film provided the inspiration for Walt Disney and his Imagineers to create the Jungle Cruise.

The 27-foot long boats used in the attraction, however, were modeled after the motion picture "The African Queen," starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn

I just don't like the idea of anything midway because it sounds cheap. I want them to get rid of all references to midway games in the pier area. I think the little mermaid idea was much better.

If there's no midway games then it's not a pier! I'm not sure how the ride can sound cheap when nothing about it has been revealed. An interactive ride itself, however, does not sound cheap. The little mermaid idea was just that... an idea by fans.

Well, what would you say if Disney announced a new darkride for Disneyland based on Monster's Inc? The film is popular and it may have a different focus, but they just opened one at DCA!

I'd probably throw a fit, thats what.

name 1 ride opening at DLR in the next few years that ISN'T based on Pixar (Rock It doesn't count)
my point!!!
yes, Pixar is popular, but IMO its overshadowing DISNEY.

WELCOME2PIXARLAND.

So I am assuming you have seen some of the old spook houses too (that's what they use to be called). Very similar to the haunted mansion, no? Just because the originals are like this doesn't mean that is what disney has to produce. As I commented in another thread, disney takes experiences that can be found all over the world and through careful design and planning, elevates them to a higher experience than the originals.

The old spook houses found in seaside piers were what gave walt the inspiration for the haunted mansion. The originals were random, gimmicky, and focus on providing cheap startling thrills, nothing like HM. They were uncohesively themed and made little scene, much like your reference to pier side funhouses.

Disney can take a basic principle like a funhouse and add their own unique touch to in order to make it great. I just see a funhouse themed to woody an easy excuse not to come up with something unique. Come up with an original character for this ride and let him take you on a tour of his wacky world, kind of like journey into imagination was. Maybe I have a different vision for how this ride could be than some, but the way I see it, this ride should not be themed to a film.
