Isn't Buzz actually based off of the TV series? I know the characters are from Toy Story 2, but the actual idea of the ride, didn't it come around after the TV series was made?
So there, Buzz is off the TV series, and this new attraction, the movie. Did I mention its already been confirmed to be called Woodys Midway Blasters?

ok, just read the thread and several thoughts come to mind:1 - who says this ride isn't based on "Nervous Rex" or the "Little Green Men" or maybe we're trying to get away from "Big Al"? While I agree that Woody and a 1920's amusement pier might not make the most sense, I certainly think that this thread's focus on "the new woody ride" is a bit narrowminded.2- Pixar is, when you think about it, more Disney than Disney has been lately. The classic Disney movies (and the recent classics as well) were always great stories with great characters told through great artwork. Since Toy Story - this description has fit Pixar more than it has anything coming out of Burbank. The fact that John Lassiter, the driving force behind Pixar, is as Disneyfied as they come should carry some weight here. In essence, Pixar has been Disney while Disney hasn't been. Fortunately, the Disney/Pixar alliance and now merger has blurred the lines and most kids today don't know or care about the difference. I wonder, if Dreamworks had allowed John Lassiter to make his films there, what things would be like at Disney (or should I say "Walt Disney Picture - a Comcast Company") Stop with the Pixar bashing already!3- That said - I think there are a lot of better options for a ride theme. If, in fact, the "New" Disney's California Adventure" is supposed to be "Walt Disney's California when I first Arrived Adventure (WDCWIFAA?), then I just gotta ask - Where's the SteamBoat Willie Ride? Aside from that, if we're talking Boardwalk Funhouse - I'm thinking that Aladdin's Genie would fit in quite nicely. 4- WooHoo! There's a new attraction coming to DCA! Marcie's confirmed that Mr. L himself has been looking over advanced planning materials5-WOOHOO!!!! There's ANOTHER new attraction coming to DCA!!!! Marcie's confirmed that Mr. L himself has been looking at the current Incredibles Concepts6 - WOO Freakin' HOO!!!!! MARCIE'S BACK!!!!!and7- so, after the discussion regarding the orgin of "THE JUNGLE CRUISE", who's thankful that no one got the bright idea to re-theme it to a "Lion King" ride? Personally, I'm still shocked that there hasn't been an Eddie Murphy movie where his family goes on a wacky adventure to Africa...............and you people complain about Pixar movies, Sheesh!

In this post Marcie did said: And the characters are all themed around Toy Story, but minus Buzz himself. That was the latest I know from a few months back. She gives no indication that the focus would be on Woody. Just that Buzz himself would have no part of it. --Mark

Slinky Dog Spin? Mr. Potatohead's Excellent Adventure? Barrel o' Monkeys Barrells o' Fun? Stinky Pete's Gold Mine Ride?

I think a Woody-theme would be a logical guess. It also lends itself to the shooting gallery feel of the proposed attraction. Sure, it could be based on the other toys, but Woody, Bullseye and Jessie seems the most likely candidates, and probably most popular with kids.
Also, the whole dual-TS attractions make sense, especially having them in seperate parks. If a child rides the Buzz ride, and knows there is a Wood-based ride in the other park...you better believe he's gonna bug his parents to take him to see it! It's almost like having "Part 2" of the ride in the other park... |
