I'm so used to it on here that when I get one I don't know, I usually can figure it out from content in the paragraph. Like when I was teaching elementary school, and the kids couldn't spell something, I could usually figure it out from the rest of the sentence or the pictures they drew.

I do try really hard to not use them at the parks with people who are not Disney geeks. I do say California Adventures, which when you think of it is shortened too from Disney's California Adventures. DCA makes no sence to the general public, nor would the rest of the lettering we use.

So placement is the key...........like work symbols........use it where people understand it..................Be Happy!

It's not easier to say than pirates but I find myself using that abbreviation allot. Why, I don't really know. Like I said, the only two rides I use the acronyms for are HM and POTC. The way I pronounce POTC is each letter individually, not POT See like some say it. Maybe I am messed up but I rarely use acronyms except for these two rides (and DCA). Everything else is just abbreviations.

abbreviations are used on here because they are familiar, and yes it does save .1 seconds. you can't honestly tell me that you never abbrievate things when you are typing. if you don't then...i'm impressed.

i've never heard anyone say "DCA" outloud. if i did, i would probably laugh behind their back.

Ya, I can't figure out what they all mean either. I think an unwritten rule should be to keep disney acronyms to 4 letters or less. Anything more and you should just use abbreviations. I can usually figure the 5+ ones out but it take a second or two of thinking about them.

Good, then you can laugh at me because I use that acronym all the time. I think it is ridiculous to say the 5+ plus ones like "It's Tuff To Be A Bug" because I don't even know how you can make that sound like a word. It would just come out all weird and strange. But I find "DCA" to be quite catchy and it brings allot more positive connotations to it's name than saying "California Adventure", at least for me. Like it has already been said, allot of commonly used words are acronyms so I see no problem with referring to it as “DCA”.

When I worked in Guest Relations before California Adventure opened...I was a trainer for the park. I had to teach the GR cast about DCA, it's stories, theming, what do to in an emergency, food locations and what they serve, stores...etc...(you get the idea). Well, management had told us that we needed to cut down on saying "DCA" and start using it's real name "Disney's California Adventure". We all agreed...not 2 weeks later, the park officially opened and you could buy a brand new baseball style cap with the abbreveation "DCA" embroidered right on the brim. Good times.
