You bring up a good point dlfreak about California Adventure never hitting capacity before, even with the 2fers in previous years. Another thing that people fail to realize when bashing the park is that 2fers are only available to Southern California residents as well. And there are alot of out of towners on Spring Break right now trying to get in one more day at Disney before leaving who only have park hoppers or Annual Passes. I am personally not terribly surprised about the gate closures because even when I visited during Presidents Week in February, California Adventure was busier than it was in previous years, Screamin was consistantly a 60 minute wait, Sun Wheel was an hour, Tower was around 45 minutes to an hour and Monsters Inc was 25 minutes long on an off-season day, so I could only imagine how long the line was during the holiday. Even Grizzly had a 35 minute wait which is pretty rare in February.

Do you even realize how strong the American economy is right now?

Do GDP, home ownership rates, unemployment rates and productivity rates, all of which are at historically very, very healthy levels mean anything? Or is it just because you only pay half the price of gas that someone in Tokyo or London does simply equate to you that this is a "bad economy"?
I'm not trying to pick on you Nemo88, but I'm baffled that someone who was in grade school during the last serious recession of 1991-93, and was likely not even alive during the recession of 1980-82, could even begin to comprehend what a "bad economy" would be. And if you truly believe the economic conditions we are all enjoying right now really isn't a "good economy", then heaven help you when the next real recession actually does hit and the economy tanks again.

To bad they did not prepare the restuarants that never open so that they could open for days like this.
Now if only they could build a candy shop like the one in Mainstreet in the empty San francisco buildings. It is a no-brainer. That shop is always crowded and a delight seeing them do fresh candy.

I went to DCA on Saturday and it was packed! Monsters Inc had a 120 minute wait which required them to use the Millionarie Fastpass queue as an extension. Orange Stinger had a 45 minute wait and Mulholland Madness had an 80 minute wait. But even though DCA was crazy, I still had a great time.

Well, looks like the yearly increase in attendance is starting to be inescapably noticed.
It just took a little bit of time. Gee.You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

Yes, attendance has increased at DCA since 2002. But we can not ignore the fact that this suddenly busy weekend at DCA is attributable to the last weekend of the 2Fer tickets.

This was the last chance weekend to use your free return ticket to Disneyland or DCA. I remember extended queue lines for Screamin' going all the way to the ice cream stand down the boardwalk on the same "Final Weekend" of the 2Fer promotion back in April, 2003.
My point is..... we do this same thing, and seem to have this same discussion, every single year around this time. It's the last chance to use your 2Fer ticket, and DCA is always slammed.
Check back next Saturday after the deadline passes, and that 80 minute wait for Mulholland Madness will suddenly disappear. Sadly, they'll also stop playing "Yo Ho, Yo Ho!" over the store PA sytem at my Vons.

The 2Fer worked as promised.
Have we learned something new about DCA? No.
Since they are offering the 2Fer to go to Disneyland, I guess that's the way it should have been.

I think the same can be said for Disneyland as well too.

The only problem with this reasoning though (although i do think SOME of the crowds are do to the 2fer) is that it is also the last weekend for the Easter break. So even if the crowds die down a bit next weekend it really does not prove it was all based on the Southern California Special only especially since there was a very very large amount of foreign visitors this weekend. Especially Canadians.
Either way its nice to see the parks (both) busy.
