New Harbor Blvd. Entrance Marquee?

There are similar 2001 signs up in other Resort locations, and all of them just as ugly and charmless as this one they just repainted. The big marquee that stretches over the Harbor Blvd. driveway a block south is a hideous design, and now that's it's had five years to fade and age, it's even uglier.

I've always liked the orange 2001 DLR signs. I think the design is innovative and fun. They're a whole lot more interesting than the foamcore student project the Magic Kingdom uses:



I'm a little confused, though, about keeping the 2001 DLR logo? I thought these were all being replaced?

They should repaint the orange to blue and update the logo.

I personally don't mind the sign at all. I never cared for the predecessing signs either. They would look dated if they came back.

Scratching my head here. I was hoping for the logo to be replaced. Now I am perplexed at the finished old logo.

Interesting history of the WDW MK sign - which BTW is jsut the sign over the autoplaza leading to the TTC, 3 monorail resorts, Ft Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge, etc.. (whoo, this was supposed to be a short list, but there's a lot of stuff back in the "MK area" at WDW)

Are you with me? ok, now let's take a minute and think back to the pre - Ouimet days and the condition of Disneyland at that time. Are you there?
Peeling paint on Main Street, the back drop at Toon Town, the Tiki Tiki room, the thatchless thatch in Fantasy land?

So, while it might be nice if there were a new sign, just imagine how far things have come when we can have a post here complaining that ALL we got was JUST some new paint.

I'd say things are definately headed in the righ t direction.

Are there any pictures of the sign with the tarps down? I think I missed it since everyone is so disappointed now.

The only picture I have seen on here was posted as having been taken in April 2005.

So, are we jumping the gun, or did they actually just paint the sign????

Click on "new paint" in my post above. It links to a newer update by Darkbeer that has shots of the tarps down. It looks like they just basically painted the sign.
