Thanks for the update, Marcie! Good news for the Pier.

When the Park first opened, its theme was California “here and now.” Obviously with this Pier Placemaking project, that overarching theme is being significantly altered. Shouldn’t that same shift in design philosophy apply to the whole Park, including the Entrance Plaza?

I still think they need to re-brand the Park in the public's eye. The Entrance Plaza Placemaking project will be a significant step in that process, IMO. Hopefully this, and all the Park, will be re-imagined by its 10th birthday.

"Cars" building could be easily modified for this technology and DCA has a large backstage area behind TOT and Hyperion that could have an elavated track if needed.

Anyone know how much space Testracks showroom takes up?
You'd be surprised. Energy uses the full show building, so does the Land. They're putting the ride back into Seas so now it's full again so the only real wasted space is at Imagination.

Test Track's ride extends far behind the buildings. Inside, it barely exceeds a few mph. It has to exit and then do a turn around (above a CM parking lot) before it can accelerate to make the main turn around the front of the building. The showroom is underneath the track. All of TT takes place on the second floor or higher, so the most you can really do is drop it down one floor.

Here's a flash animation that shows of the TT buildings pretty well..

Sadly, there may be truth to this statement. Incredibles sounds like an idea that many may want to work, but maybe it just doesn't. Just because a concept sounds good or looks good as an illustration, does not mean it will come off that way in reality.

I just think that if they want to add more to this park, then litterally ADD more park. I'd like to see them put in a new land with an attraction or two that operates within that land's theme in at least a subtle way.

Example: DLP. Thunder Mesa with Big Thunder Mountain and Phantom Manor. They are themed to fit and compliment the land they reside in.

It is inevitable that more E-Tickets will come to DCA. However, I think the focus right now is to place attractions like: Buzz, Monsters, Pooh, Small World, Roger Rabbit type attractions.

DCA doesn't have a fantasy land type area that has quality family attractions in bulk. I think they are trying to add that right now.

Just My Opinion

I'm pleased that the GG Bridge wil stay, but I'm not pleased that the sun icon will stick around. A Victorian theme should be the perfect theme for PP. It might become the "Main Street" of DCA in a way.

QUESTION FOR MARCIE....any chance this PP facelift will spill a little bit into Route 66? If not, is this area on the radar now for upcoming development?

Oh, feck.

The one part of the placemaking project I though would give the park a big lift has been shelved for the time being. So, DCA will continue to be introduced to visitors with a mall themed to... a mall. Great work to all involved!

Perhaps eventually. The main focus is on the boardwalk section of PP, since that will be the most affected by the addition of Midway Mania.

The Sunshine Plaze, for those who are unhappy with this news, will most likely get redone. So no worries.
