That could look really nice. If done right, though, it would certainly cast a bad light on the surrounding areas—Route 66, in particular. If "Main Street" is on one side of the Bay, the argument is certainly strengthened for "New Orleans Square" (an expanded Bay Area) on the other side. Otherwise, the visual contrast might be just too great.

As doppio mentioned, I wonder how the Paradise Pier Hotel will fit into this new enhanced theme, as well as such contemporary icons like the Orange Stinger and the Maliboomer.

How come you never mention the fact that you can see the outside world in Disneyland too? On the Matterhorn, you get beautiful views of warehouses and just infront of the castle, if you turn towards Main Street Station, you can see the gigantic Hilton Hotel as well...

That would be the hope, that the PP makeover will kind of "force the issue" with Route 66. I think PP should be contained entirely within CA Screamin, with the exception of Ariel's Grotto. Everything from the Orange Stinger up to Golden Dreams should be done over.

Hey Marcie is Route 66 included in the Pier Place Making Project? Or is this just the area from Ariel's to Maliboomer?

It has to exit and then do a turn around (above a CM parking lot) before it can accelerate to make the main turn around the front of the building. The showroom is underneath the track. All of TT takes place on the second floor or higher, so the most you can really do is drop it down one floor.

Here's a flash animation that shows of the TT buildings pretty well..

Thanks for the link. I am familiar with the building and the track layout.
Even the link shows how much of the front part of the building is wasted space.
The track could easily be retroffited. a "Cars attraction would not need the same layout.

Its just like any other attraction Disney has cloned. Look at the dirference in size from Disneylands Splash compared to Magic Kingdom SPlash footprint. Lots of work went into making sure Spash fit the smaller footprint in Disneyland.

Also donot forget that DCA still has a little more than 20 acres for expansion. The new addition in DAK ,Mount everest ,has a huge footprint and that expansion is only 6.2 acres.

The outisde portion of test track if needed could easily be built elevated in the backstage area. There is quite a bit of room behind TOT's electrical area and Hyperions backstage area. You also have the large Garden area next to the park boundary that could support the track similiar to the way the monorails track border the fencing.

But like Marcie said the attraction is no way near being approved.

2010 sounds like a long time away but if you really think about it, we are 1/2 way thru 2006. That means that it is only 4 1/2 years till 2010.
How many years did it take to build TOT, Everest and reconfigure Subs and SPace mountain.

Disney has taken anything from two years just to refurbish "e" attractions to 3 to 4 years to build one. It isn't hard to believe that they are working on Incredibles problem so they can start construction eventually taking 3 years or so to build it, test it and re-imagineer the surrounding area to match the theming in time to open for DCA's 10th anniversary year.

oh please. As if Disney could go around telling the city to retheme it to match whatever land stands in front of it.

Epcot has the same problems with the hotels looming over it just like Tokyo. I don't see you making such a big deal about it.

These constant arguements about everything that they add to DCA is getting a bit too much. Some people think that Disney is there to please each and everyone one of them. They haven't even announced anything or shown concept art about the attractions and they are already being criticized.

Thanks darph nader. It is actually a real transit system under active development. Check out http://www.skywebexpress.com/

And if you want to see everything else out there related to Innovative Transportation just visit http://faculty.washington.edu/~jbs/itrans/
This site is FULL of ideas and a whole other topic to get lost in for hours.

PeopleMover II has many possibilities IF it is ever going to happen.
