agreed but at the moment its not about tearing out attractions before adding to them. Besides the Maliboomer uses a small footprint what else would fit there. A spinner. I think not..

Unless the used that area for a small indoor queue that would lead into a much bigger show room behind it into the backstage area.

I need to check how much room is behind there.

Nope not much room here is an aerial view

The only way would be to finally close the timon lot and reconfigure the lots exit so that it ran straight up removing the hidden Mickey crosswalk (since it is no longer visible because of the tree and bush growth) and connecting it to the back of Pizza oom mow mow.
Now the road exactly behind the maliboomer could then be removed. The parade exit would also be connected to the new reconfigured backstage road.

I think for the most part this placemaking project seems to be line with what DCA needs. But like always, I will have hold my judgment until I learn more about what this project entails. If they just re-skin the buildings and add some extra touches here and there, than I really don't think it is worth the effect. I think any re-theming of the land needs to be fairly massive in scope. Anything else and they are just wasting their times by creating something that's underdeveloped.

What I can't seem to figure out is how they plan on making the victorian theme work. I simple can't picture how this elegant feel will work all the steel that is used screamin' supports. I would love to picture a boardwalk reminiscent of the grand floridian but I just can't see it working without a decent sized budget.

Lol... no kiding, that park needs WAY more rides. There is absolutely nothing to do after you have been there for 3 hours and your not 4. I also love how they acted like there coaster was a brand new ride simple because they finally got round too painted it and gave it a new name.

I'm so glad to hear the entrance and Condor Flats projects have been canned. I'm especially pleased that the Golden Gate Bridge is safe for now. This is the most exciting news I've heard in a long time!

The money is much better spent on Midway Mania. It really sounds like a great ride and it will actually bring more people into the park. Although I don't see how it will fit with a Victorian pier.

I think this makes alot of since

I've said for a while my feelings were to start at the back and work your way forward so that when you get to the entrance people are invited into a world that is full of great stuff to do from beginning to end (rather then being invited into a park that isn't completly there yet?)

I have to say though the biggest thing they should do is get that darn path between ToT and Bugs Land built :P there is just no excuse for this taking so long and it would fix tons of traffic problems for DCA along with giving ToT and the Bugs Land rides more people to ride them (family's can have the kids go on Bugs Land stuff while the more adventurous members can ride ToT)

onto the Pier area I'm just going to say that this makes alot of since in that there will be so much starting on the Pier at once

the construction of Midway Madness and Screamin going under Refurb I mean why NOT just get it over with now and make the whole thing look brand new

I remeber that Marcie said that another coaster may be getting a Rocket Mountain type treatment and my bet is still on Screamin

if all of this is brought together the Pier area would be something awsome

though I have to wonder what kinda big changes they'd make to the arcutechture

I mean if the Cove is a clue does this mean that it will be very TL98ish not in a bad way just by this I mean that it's mostly a new coat of paint and a few minor arcutectural changes/addittions)

and yeah I'm with those that ask about Route 66 a bit

I mean it seems to me that that'd be the area to ignore still with all the stuff going on at the Pier because there isn't really anything to add to it.

I'm kinda glad the entryway is delayed for now so that they can work out plans on moving the Golden Dreams theater there

I mean that movie would make a ton more since at the entryway to the park but I'll admit that it would leave a building empty

so if they delay it a bit they can work on some plans for something else to fill that building and hopefully some sort of expansion of the San Fran area into Route 66

Like the powerlines by ToT. Looks like total crap.

which is pretty amazing since the average guest does not notice this. even i did not notice the powerline until a year after the park opened. my friend who has never been their did not notice them either. even after i asked him on the way home (did you see the power lines through out the park as well as the convention center) he said " what!! i did not notice anything." even all the pictures i have of dca not one shows powerlines in them.

so marcie will you be able to tell us if a new e-ticket is being considered for dca. it does not have to be thrilling, something along the lines of pirates or the mansion. putting in a new e-ticket for the 10 aniversary would be a really smart move , i would think.

These are my thoughts exactly.

In theory I quite like the idea of re-theming the pier, but I think it will require a lot of work for them to pull it off effectively. The Sun Wheel, Maliboomer and Orange Stingers are, after Screamin', the most conspicuous parts of the land and none of them fit this new theme. I'm also curious as to how they're going to redress the fairly plain row of buildings the land features to make this work, but I do suspect you might be right about a few little touches added here and there and a new colour scheme. If that's the case, I agree that there's little point as it will make little to no difference to the land. Hopefully they will put a lot of time and money into it, but if, as Marcie says, the discussions about placemaking within TDA are focussing upon whether they're necessary at all given that they don't generate attendance in their own right (a logic which would, I imagine, have resulted in Disneyland being a plain amusement park if being built today), it doesn't sound all that promising. We'll see.

I'm also not sure why the entry placemaking project would have to be put on hold for the pier placemaking project in order for it to coincide with the opening of the new ride... in summer 2008! Wasn't the entry area project only supposed to take 6 months or so at the most anyway? Why not finish this and then move on to the pier and open the ride with a more significantly 'placemade' park? Perhaps Marcie can answer whether the placemaking project is planned to be completed for the opening of the ride in two years time or whether it will be completed more within the timeframe the entry area was to have been completed?

If it turns out that we wont get Incredibles until 2010,then that means DCA will be without an E ticket for 6 years,I really hope they get a "wow" E ticket in there before then.
