That would be cool, then the Maliboomer would fit inwith the Victorian surroundings they are going for, since palms "go" with everything.

I concur, Nemo. Palms are 'in'.

Victorian architecture is more about colors and "gingerbread" and is very easy to add. If you stripped away the ornamentation on most Queen Anne Victorians, most have plain structures. Some do have turrets and such, but mostly it is "gingerbread."

This ended up on the nemo topic, which I thought was this one, so I'm putting it here, too, because this is where I thought it was going:

For years I've been saying that the pier area isimply needed a dark ride. The rides they have there now are basically theming, but don't really serve as disney style rides. It's actually a really good idea, and very different from how they have themed other areas.

The problem with the park is not the theme, it's that they put in areas with no attractions. The wharf, SF, the farm, and the pier. These are the things that should be fixed, not a few bits of decor.

Now with the addition of a ride to the pier area that is befitting the theme, the pier area will be what it should have been when it first opened. Hopefully, the ride will match the surrouding theme of the pier area. If they don't, then it's just more badly matched poor thinking about their parks.

Jonvn is right.I think a dark ride at the pier will really enhance the area, right now there isnt much to do for the entire family on the pier, which is why that part of the park has really really thin crowds, while areas like Hollywood are packed.

I think the addition of Midway Mania will help alot, especially if its as interactive and unique as Marcie said.

I just hope they address some of the sightline issues of the pier with this placemaking project. When you enter the pier from the bay area you get a glaring view of the convention center etc,I really hope they do something to fix this.Maybe rebuilt the Screamin queue so its taller? add trees?

Well, DL hasn't recieved a brand new "E-Ticket" since what....Indy? That was 11 years ago....At any rate 2010 is NOT that far off. Considering it will probably take 2+ years to build the thing, 2010 sounds exactly right to me. Most likely, in the mean time, we'll see smaller, but much needed improvements to the park.

I think the 2 situations are too different to compare though,Disneyland is an established theme park that doesnt really "need" new E tickets to drive more attendance. Its a American icon that really markets itself,I mean just look how much attendance has gone up at DL in the past 11 years even WITHOUT a big E ticket.

DCA on the other hand is a fledgling park that is still trying to find its place in the market,it needs "wow" big rides to lure people in and get people to love the park.DCA is still trying to find an audience,DL already has one.also,DL has a huge roster of E tickets right now,its in no desperate need of one, even if Nemo didnt happen,DL would still be fine.DCA on the other is short on these types of rides and its more of a necessity for this park.

also, you have to remember what Marcie said, she didnt say Incredibles WAS going to happen in 2010,she said IF it was gonna happen it would be at LEAST 2010.Thats a big "IF" right there,if INcredibles was greenlight and would open around 2010,that would be fine,my issue comes in the fact that its only a big "maybe" that it will even be built.

my point is, that Disney doesn't tend to doll out the "E-Tickets" to one park very often. If DCA were to get two "E-Tickets" within 6 years, Tower in '04, Incerdibles in '10, that would be something. It would be GREAT, but kinda unusual. Also, I think that since all the placemaking was cancelled in order to put monies toward more revenue-generating additions, sounds like New attractions are definately on the slate for DCA. Wether it is Incredibles or something else.

Actually, I believe palm trees are very appropriate fro Victorian themeing, as the Victorians loved potted palms and tropical plants in their conservatories.

Anyway, I agree, the palm tree look was MUCH better than the ring-the-bell-game look.
