Don't know if anyone else has noticed this (and I'm REALLY hoping the DL website is wrong on this one), but it looks like DL has quietly shortened its summer operating hours for Sun.-Thurs. beginning the week after July 4th.
As of now, after the week of July 4th, DL will close at 11pm instead of 12am on Sun. to Thurs. The park will still close at 12am on Fri. and Sat. but will not close at that time the rest of the week. DCA will follow a similar pattern, closing at 9pm Sun. to Thurs., and 10pm Fri. and Sat.
Personally, I'm REALLY hoping the site is wrong on this one. I doubt it because it looks like they really had this one planned out, but I'm still hoping. The site still said 8am-12am for DL through the whole month of July when I checked it a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping that this is an error on their part.

With record attendance, I am not sure why they would shorten their summer hours from last year.

Just guessing here, but it could be the staffing problems catching up to them. A couple thousand CMs cut by an hour a day(of OT) adds up pretty quick. OR maybe they figure that working the CMs a little less will help morale a bit. I don't know, pure speculation, but it was the first thing that popped into my head.
I prefer Walt's "Hard Facts" over P.C.

I hate it when DL's not open from 8-12, I like to get every min I can in DL.

DL should be open to 12am it's at it's best at 11pm when there's not as long lines. DCA should also be open late since the park looks great at night.
ok

If it was staffing problems, it would be much smarter to open Disneyland at 9 am instead of 8 am, since the parks are fairly dead in the early morning. Night time is when everyone gets their shopping done, so from a money stand point, opening later in the morning would make much more sense. 9am to 12am would be much better.

Since when? We get there first thing in the morning everytime we visit and it's far from dead.

Why does DL do the 8am opening thing? I never really understood that.. The standard for all FL parks (Disney, Universal, Busch, etc) is a 9am opening except on peak holidays.
Anywho, they did change the hours as they are now different for my trip. WDW seems to have done a similiar slice of hours at both MK and AK.
