A tree adjacent to the Mark Twain/Columbia dock fell this afternoon, injuring visitors including five children.
The tree was located between the Petrified Tree, the Twain dock and the Golden Horseshoe - and it fell right onto a popcorn cart.
Fire trucks are currently on property. They have been checking the plumbing pipes around the area and have been running some of the Fantasmic pumps.
More details as they develop.
***Update - 7:05 pm***
Around a dozen visitors injured. 20-25 visitors have been examined by perimedics. Around a dozen visitors have been confirmed as "injured". The injuries range from minor to moderate. 7-8 fire engines & 3-4 ambulances are currently on the scene. The entire tree "up-rooted" (meaning the roots ripped out of the soil).

Oh my gosh! How terrible! I hope no one was seriously injured.
Was anyone here at the park when it happened?

I was at the park yesterday and did not notice anything unusual. Yes it was an old tree. It made shade for the area. That is why the popcorn cart was near there. It is so sad that another problem has cropped up to plague the park. They had been doing some rehab to the area just north of there, I wonder if they could have damaged some roots? Old trees have a wide root span.

Hello All,
I was at the scene today. It is one of the original trees located by the Twain dock. It's the tree that is across the way from the Golden Horeshoe where the popcorn vendor is. It's a large tree, but an old one too. It loks like everyone was ok, but I'm sure we'll hear more later. BTW, Disneyland did a great job securing the area throughout all the madness. I was impressed.Karma Boy

I was sad to hear about this accident. It is a good example though of why Disney needs to have those paramedics on the property all the time.
As long as there is a parking place, we are THERE!

Mike and I were also at the park when it happened. Disney employees handled everything wonderfully. Hats off to them! It was strange seeing so many helicopters flying over head. Media was there so quickly. The tree is huge, and I imagine a lot of the small branches scrapped people, causing a lot of the minor injuries. All I have to say, is thank goodness for the popcorn cart or we could have some more serious injuries.
