Young kids - yes, preteens - no way.Originally posted by Darkbeer
Heck, sounds like LegoLand still offers the best choice for young kids and pre-teens.
Just went to Legoland on Saturday. Kind of a post-long-Disney-Vacation thing. We're AP holders there, too. The first thing we went on was the Technic rollercoaster, which is the biggest thing there. Notice, the biggest, fastest thing they have my 3-year old can ride on. I was amazed at how "mild" it was after spending 5 days at DLR. My daughter still loved it but she didn't have the same reaction to it that Mulholland Madness (closest thing to it) had, because the intensity was just so much lower. It was interesting, really, as I've been on that Legoland coaster many times before and never thought it to be so tame.
I think by the time the kids hit about 8+, Legoland's primary appeal comes from the construction/hands on areas, not the rides.
For what it's worth, LegoLand doesn't have a single "dark ride", although it does have an inside walkthrough area that just scares the crud out of the littlest kids.![]()

"All we are asking for is the old Disney's magic, effort, and charm back."
Who is this "We?"
And frankly, I don't think you know what you are asking for. Somehow, "Dumbo is a whimsical place for kids to be free and fly," while an even more ornate ride in a more heavily themed are in DCA is totally lacking.
"pure Disney magic."
Since you have not been able to explain why Flick's Fantasy Faire does not have this, but only to say that rides like Dumbo, or perhaps the Motor Boat Cruise have it for some imponderable reason, then I really don't see what you are asking for or why.
They produced something that appears to be very nice, and works exactly how other rides that Disney has produced do. Because someone said something negative, though, it appears that once again, the bandwagon may have been formed, and people are quick to jump on the anti-Disney free for all.You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

What I have been trying to explain (somehow you can’t comprehend what I am saying) is that FFF doesn’t have one single attraction that makes it stand-out in the theme park industry. It doesn’t have that single attraction that makes everyone gape in aw of it. It doesn’t have an attraction that people, or kids for that matter, get off and say, “Let’s go on that one again.” Once again I will restate why I am asking for an attraction that entails these qualities; Disney set a standard for itself and its attractions, which I feel hasn’t been met in FFF.
I will further explain that standard they have set since you will probably ask, “What is that standard?” Their standard involves: great theming, unforgettable ride experiences, fun for all ages, and a unique design. No, I am not asking for every ride to be like this, but at least every “land” can have at least one of these rides.
And finally, I am not hopping on the bandwagon. I have noticed Disney producing bland and desultory attractions before the anti-Disney era started. Hopefully Disney will take a hint from their unhappy guests and start to be the way they were before 1996.

I understand what you are saying. What you are saying, though, isn't very well thought out. For example: "FFF doesn’t have one single attraction that makes it stand-out in the theme park industry."
Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Not every single ride that Disney ever produces has to be a stand out in the theme park industry. There is no rule that says this, and not every ride is an E ticket. What they built is similar to other amusements they have put in all their parks around the world.
But assuming that it did have that rule. The theming of this area and the coordination of rides found is pretty stand out. It looks quite detailed and different from other areas like it. Additionally, FFF is part of a new area called "A Bugs Land." In it you have ITTBAB, which is also a pretty stand out 3d attraction, with some of the most complex AA figures in the industry.
"It doesn’t have an attraction that people, or kids for that matter, get off and say, “Let’s go on that one again.” "
How do you know this? How do you know that kids won't want to play for long hours in the water fountain, and then want to go back again? How do you know they won't want to go back on the little train ride? It might be that YOU wouldn't want to go back, but then, this part of the park is not targeting you in any case.
"great theming, unforgettable ride experiences, fun for all ages, and a unique design."
Well, it has great theming, and a unique design. The ride experience is about as forgettable or unforgettable as any other rides that Disney has produced of this type.
"I have noticed Disney producing bland and desultory attractions before the anti-Disney era started."
You mean back in the 1970s? Yeah, that's when I noticed it, too. To try and speak of some sort of golden age prior to 1996 is ridiculous. Things are cyclic, and they have good times and bad. There were plenty of bad things done prior to 1996.You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

Quote from Jonvn, "seek help".
I liked "Sea Kelp" better. It was funny, wish you hadn't changed it.
Yes Jon, I do write alot about what I dislike about Disney. More to the point, what I find disappointing.
Why disappointing? Because I love Disney parks, I have ever since I was a kid. I have had great times in those parks all over the world (never been to Paris, would like to check it out though...although again I am disappointed in what the new park there offers).
I also write a lot about what I love about Disney parks. All the time.
Funny, when you write all about what's wrong with Disneyland today, how Pooh doesn't belong in Critter Country, how Critter Country doesn't belong at all, how Thunder Mountain ruined Frontierland, how the new Tomorrowland is so terrible...that's all well and good for you to write.
But when someone ELSE critisises parts of Disney that YOU happen to like, they have emotional problems and should go and get therapy.
Brilliant.

ou obviously don't read posts thoroughly. I clearly stated, " No, I am not asking for every ride to be like this, but at least every “land” can have at least one of these rides." You are either skimming through the posts or just rambling on with rhetorical sentences. I said that I don't expect every ride in Disney to be a ride that stands-out, I also said that there was only a need for one of these E-ticket attractions in each "land". But you clearly didn't read my post and just decided to reiterate something I had already said. Your statement really just made you look like a jacka**. Maybe you will read what I say this time.
I don't expect every ride in Disney to be an E-ticket attraction.

"No, I am not asking for every ride to be like this, but at least every “land” can have at least one of these rides.""
I know what you said. And this isn't a "land" by itself, but part of one. As I mentioned, ITTBAB is a stand out 3D attraction and is in this "land." FFF is a small subsection. Perhaps you should read my posts more clearly.
This was my statement: "Additionally, FFF is part of a new area called "A Bugs Land." In it you have ITTBAB, which is also a pretty stand out 3d attraction, with some of the most complex AA figures in the industry."
So, again, I don't see what you are complaining about. You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

"But when someone ELSE critisises parts of Disney that YOU happen to like, they have emotional problems and should go and get therapy."
Actually, no. And your inability to grasp the simple statements I was making is another indicator of your problems.
You really do need to get some help. You wallow in things you hate, obsess over other posters on bulletin boards and spend hours and hours talking about things you are not happy with. What a way to live...
And what makes you really appear to need help is your constant replies to anything I say with a series of insulting comments towards me. It's pretty obvious you have some issues to deal with.
You might notice that I am not really referring to the other person I'm arguing with on here as having emotional problems. That award goes strictly to you right now. Not that you're the only one...You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

10-07-2002 06:30 PM #89Ditto. The only saving grace it had was your former bubbly avatar, Driftwood, but alas, she appears to have been lost in the furor as well. This thread makes me sad. It's just a flesh wound.
