I think they should always look foreward, why should Disney bring back Rods or PM? been there done that,Imagineers are a very creative and smart bunch,im sure they could conjure up something better then both of those rides....
I say let PM and RODS die a dignified death and bring on something new

But what if PeopleMover came back with new cars and new special effects and such? Just totally update the concept into something new and interesting... Include the Star Wars characters, Stitch and Buzz scenes along the way.

Most people say 'Buzz'. But since there is
no official announcement... what if it's something else?

Or better yet, more than one attraction?

Buzz would lock out the old RR/PM loading platform from further construction for a long time. Maybe somebody has thought about that.

Are they willing to stare at that vacant space for
    another 5-10 years?

Maybe it won't be called the People Mover. They may just borrow the TTA name from WDW's Tomorrowland and give it some spiffy new cars. Still seems like a lot of money to spend to get back to a ride that was shut down. I'm thinking that they'll have to retrofit the track, rework the queue and build new cars.
I know, they can build the new cars saucer shaped and call it the Flying Saucer Mover. Brings back 2 attractions in one move!

I think you're on to something Screamin'. Bringing the PeopleMover back in a different form would be pretty cool. The two biggest things the original PM lacked was theming and a smooth ride. If they use the same system WDW's version has, the ride will be bump-free. And even though they have limited space to use for theming, I'm sure they could come up with some clever things.

I think bringing back an updated PM is a heck of a lot better than what they have now.....nothing.

There's a difference between a ride dying(subs) and a ride failing(Rocket Rods). If Disney knew RR would fail, the Peoplemover would be there today. The only reason it was ripped out in the first place was because they wanted something better, not that the original ride was bad. WDW still has their Peoplemover, and in 1995, they confirmed that they still believe in it by not tearing it out in the TL refurb.

    hi I'm a newbie

anyways I was wondering how exactly did Rocket Rods fail? I mean I know it sucked but it seemed to always have a huge line so? I know I hated it the line went on for an eternity (started at a 60min from here sign and 3 hours later went on the ride)

from a "popularity" stand-point,this ride did very well,it always had huge lines.

however it had many eingineering issues, the tires were getting worn out extremely fast, they didnt bank the turns which lead to the slowing and speeding up of the vehicles every 10 feet, the old peoplemover track was not designed to carry such heavy and fast vehicles like the Rods.......it had many engineering flaws...it essentially became too costly to run.
personally,I loved them,I think they added alot of kinetic energy to TL,and the sound they made was pretty cool...I wish they woulda stayed.

Also, the track ain't designed for something going 30MPH all day-it was for the Peoplemover, which I think capped off at 5MPH. It was shaking violently, and wrecking the structures of Star Tours, etc.

The line was an attraction in its own(Circlevision), and that is why I never minded it.
