Anybody know any actual ending date for the 50th Anniversary stuff?
Bear in mind, whatever date you say, I will extend it by 6-9 months like they did in Florida for the "100 Ways we can use marketing and new pin and plush releases to celebrate the birthday of Wilt Disney".
Eisner: "What do you mean his name was NOT Wilt?!?
You mean that was a typo?
Can't we get ANYTHING right in this company anymore?!?
DAMMIT!!!! Now I gotta go and fire 1,000 more cm's to cheer myself up."

When does the 50th ACTUALLY end?
"It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you -- that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why."
"And they call it a film.....A FILM?!?"

This would be a guess and nothing more, but most events at WDW are 15 months, and start Oct 1, of the year previous to the event.
If that forumal pans out that would put the dates October 1, 2004 - December 31, 2005
And you're right it could always be extended, but I beleive 100 Years of Magic is the only celebration that actually did extend, and it was only for two additional months.
I cracked up on Satruday, when I was at the Disney MGM Studios, taking the animation tour, a child asked the animotor how old Walt would be and he could not figure it out, so a guest yelled out 102. He probably only knew the year, and it's true Walt would turn 102 later this year, but not until Dec 5.
So it seems even after a 14 month long celebration a lot of guests havn't even learned when Walt was actually born from it. Considering the celebration was called 100 Years of Magic I just found it hystercial somebody could not figure out that if Walt would actually be 102, 100 years of Magic would probably be long over. Of course it did play through when he would have ben 101, but only by about 3 months. During 12 months of the celebration he actually would have been 100.Darren

Getting Every Last Cent
The 50th will end when Disney gets every last cent from the unsuspecting customer.
They might even extend the celebration if it proves to be successful. It happened in WDW when they extended their celebrations.

Why didn't they throw in Walt's name in the title of the celebration?
-
03-10-2003 06:22 PM #5Because it was nothing but a marketing ploy, like all the celebrations to be a WDW advertisement.Originally posted by dizfan

If you visited the resort today, you'd really still see almost everything that was going on during the celebration, minus the banners. The only thing removed so far was Epcot's parade. The other three parades are now not considered a part of the celebration, but are simply the park parades.
The 50th at DLR (and WDW, even though the celebration will be designed to honor Disneyland), will probably not even have the word Disneyland in it. Probably just something like 50 magical years of Disney theme parks.
It's all about marketing!Darren

I doubt that. At least here it will say it. They've said Disneyland at every other anniversary. The 50th won't be any different. And then after the parades will stick around to, I am sure.
Of course at WDW it won't say Disneyland. They wouldn't want that.
