What do you think of the possibility that the company could change the awful California theme to an American theme...all of the original elements are ther and all we would have to do is level Paradise Pier. Could we finally have a night show at the park...something along the lines of Reflestions of Earth at Epcot..tell me what you think

First, the California theme is not awful, and second,
Disney's America included an area exactly like Paradise Pier. You may contact me via jonvn@nadelberg.com.

If all the elements for Disney's America are already there, then how will simply changing the names of the districts and attractions make it a better park? Would "Coney Island" be a better district than "Paradise Pier"? Or would Grizzly Peak make more sense in a Rocky Mountain district than a Sierra Nevada district?

I've always thought it was odd that Disney wanted to put their "America" theme park in Virginia and the heart of where our country began. Same thing with DCA in CA. Now, if America were in CA and DCA in Virginia....but I know that this is the dead horse that has been beaten mercilessly on many Disney boards.

I don't know why so many people hate PP. I feel that it is themed greatly, people just think that it has no themeing, which is wrong, there is plenty themeing. And besides I feel that DCA is a great park, sure it's still growing, but it will become better as time goes on.

i think that it would be best to extend the lagoon out more and more space for a show liek Illuminations for DCA @PP. too much smoke came out of the lagoon for luminaria, they just need more space to work with.

How about having waves in the lagoon and you can go surfing!

I think a specatcular nightly water works show is best for Paradise Bay. Like noted Luminaria produced too much smoke, how can they solve this problem?
Disney's America did have more detail from what I saw in pictures. Like animals on the banks of the River Rapids and the detail of the aviation hanger was awesome.

I pretty much agree with what's been said, simply changing the names of the areas isn't going to fix the park. What needs to be fixed is the content within the park, not just the names. Like I have always said (despite many disagreeing) is that no matter what the theme is, if the rides and attractions are good enough the public will flock to it. For example, whether a rapids attraction is themed to a rain forest or a river through a mountain, if it's a good enough ride the people will love it no matter what.
I also agree partially with DisWiz's comment about the Paradise Pier theming. The theme is a good idea and there are theming elements, but I do think they could have done a much better job with the themes, instead of using the pier theme as an excuse not to theme certain things (as the case seems to be).-YellowMan: The Fresh Maker!

NOTE TO READERS: YellowMan has been known to joke around from time to time. Please don't take some posts by him to their full, literal meaning. Doing so will most likely end in one of the following: making a fool of YellowMan, making a fool of yourself, making a fool of Ronald Reagan, drymouth, or in rare cases, death. Thank you and enjoy your stay.

I dont get it either when I was at DCA this past summer PP was the best part of the park! On a regular basis it probably would have been the Hollywood backlot but the only ride open when I was there was muppetvision 4d and ive seen that 12 million times at MGM studios. Personally I think they should stick with the whole california thing. Going all american would be a bit much I love the park the way it is all they need is a little more time and some more rides because even though the park is great right now it needs more rides, like dark rides or rides with really really cool effects or theming. One thing I noticed when i was there was the HUGE food court or whatever it is that is in front of paradise pier and i just thought to myself "what a waste of space!" Just give 2 years at the least, let it grow out more!Originally posted by DisWiz
