I received this information from a pretty reliable source at Millionaire-Play It! that there is talk from the suits about possibly closing the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire-Play It!" attraction at Disney's California Adventure. This closing won't happen anytime in the near future but there is talk about it none-the-less.
The main reason why this has been batted around according to my source is because "Millionaire" hasn't been meeting its projected attendance "counts". On this past Sunday out of 7 shows for the day, "Millionaire" only exceeded its projected attendance numbers for two shows and for one of those two shows they only exceeded their projected attendance by 1 guest.
My source says they are comparing the attendance for "Millionaire" to the Hyperion which as you may already know beats their counts almost every show so there really is no comparison.
If you like this attraction, try to stop by for at least one show during your stay at the resort.
But, when asked what else we as guests can do to help keep the attraction going, my source said that if there was an exceptional castmember or experience or other while visiting "Millionaire", visit Guest Relations, fill out a comment form and be sure to let them know about it. A positive feedback can do a world of good at the park no matter who it's for.
Again, "Millionaire" may not close anytime in the near future but anything we can do to help this attraction in the here and now will help on down the line.
I'll try to get more info in the future if this information changes.

Possible Millionaire-Play It! Closing

I'd hate to see it close until it has an established replacement, but when thatr time comes I say so be it.
DCA did join in the Million-aire craze a bit late, and I've always felt it was more fun at Disney MGM over DCA. Not because the attraction is any better, just the circumstances are different at Disney MGM over DCA.
The show, the stage, and the CM's are just as good at both parks.
But when Million-aire opened at Disney MGM, America was still on it's Million-aire craze, by the time it opened at DCA it was in it's last season, and the public knew it was the last season.
ALso more people at WDW are on vacation, so many are still seeing it for the first time, while at DCA most have already played 100 times.
But until they have a replacement idea, KEEP IT OPEN!
I would bet it's going to close at WDW sometime in the not to distinct future as well. Even at Disney MGM, Fastpass is never necessary anymore. I remember when it was impossible to get in without a fastpass.Darren

I also agree that the attraction came in late and just missed the Millionaire craze. I feel that, while fun at first, this attraction has become tired over time. I really wouldn't mind seeing it close and be replaced, but if there is nothing to replace it than it needs to stay open. I see no real point in closing an attraction for no real reason. But until they have a replacement idea, KEEP IT OPEN!-YellowMan: The Fresh Maker!

NOTE TO READERS: YellowMan has been known to joke around from time to time. Please don't take some posts by him to their full, literal meaning. Doing so will most likely end in one of the following: making a fool of YellowMan, making a fool of yourself, making a fool of Ronald Reagan, drymouth, or in rare cases, death. Thank you and enjoy your stay.

I love Millionare at DCA and would sad to see it go. However, as long as there is a decent replacement planned for the area, I would not mind is closing as much.
Unlike Darren, I find the Millionare in DCA more fun than the Studios. Basically, I think the hosts at DCA are better. Still, they are great attractions in both parks and I would be sad to see them go.

How many times did you visit Millionaire at Disney MGM on your trip?
Do you have examples of why you think CM's are better at DCA? I think they do the same quality show at both parks, but it's the guests, that make it more fun at the Studios over DCA (for me). Mostly that WDW guests don't know the show, where DLR guests are usually locals, and have played 100 times already.
To me, any "show" type attraction works better when the average audience has not memorized it yet.
I just hope when/if it closes at both parks, that a replacement is in mind. Today, in 2003, it's kind of old at both parks, even though it played at WDW a bit loinger then it did at DLR.Darren

I pretty much agree with everyone on this so far, in that I would be cool if it closed, but only if it had a cool new replacment. I myself have only visited once, and I really enjoyed it, but I have been beack to DCA numberous times since then, and haven't re-tried my luck. I think its fine now, but hopefully they will have a new show in by Disneyland's 50th anniversery.

Good News for those Millionaire lovers. The show is not going anywhere. You can say I heard it from Mickey Mouse himself. Eeek Disne

I don't think dingdong2U, nor anybody was saying the show is going anywhere anytime soon.
But surely it will close someday at both parks, but we don't have to worry about it at the moment.Darren
