I often hear comments from people about how a certain cast member went out of their way to provide a guest with exceptional service, but many of the people are not aware that there is a mechanism to send your thanks. The next time someone does something you believe should be rewarded, drop by the City Hall on Main Street, and give them the details (cast member's name, where and when you encountered them, and details). DL keeps track of them, and it's good for the cast member's record.
Conversely you can also register complaints, but I'd advise against it because you just cannot imagine how difficult it is to deal with the public in a constant cheery manner (let's face it... lots of folks are downright jerks!). I think the cast needs all the positive reinforcement they can get. They sure deserve it!

Maxdad, I couldn't agree with you more.. A lot of these cast members have to work for 8 hours a day smiling and being polite.. It's crazy...
And on a side note, I finally joined the ranks of you fellow CMs out there.. I am now a Cast Member! Woohoo! I've been waiting for so long.. Take care all.

Also, some guests comments/letters do get published in the weekly Cast Member newsletter. So every Cast Member can read all the great compliments from guests.

When we get a "good note" in our department we get the chance not to work the "boring shift" which is usualy when there is no one in the park!

i have been wanting to post a positive comment on a couple of CM's that just made my day not too long ago. Since i was so preoccupied at the time and was on a time schedule that special day i did not write down there names and forgot them. If there are any CM's out there that could help i would apreciate it. One of the CM''s was working in the store that is next to the emporium as you pass all the stuff characters. it is a small section next to al the watches. It was an older CM and it was on a saturday. I was having trouble finding coloring books because i wanted to fill up a pooh backpack that i had just purchased for my niece that had had a very serious accident a couple weeks before and almost died on us. When i asked her for help i sort of explained the reason for me wanting to purchase something that would keep my niece busy and intertain in the emergency room. (doctors said she needed to used her brain as much as possible since she had had a head trauma and wanted to make sure she did not drift off on us) The CM asked me what her favorite character was so she could check on coloring books about Winnie the Pooh. Not only did she tell me where i could locate them but actually went and came back with a coloring package with stickers and coloring pencils and told me to tell my 4 year old niece that Pooh had sent them to her. She also told me that pooh wanted to sign the gift and that i should go see him. Since i was not sure if pooh was still incritter country i went to City Hall and asked for poohs location. The CM there was so helpful
and asked me if i had a child with me that wanted to meet pooh. I told her my reason for seeing pooh and she asked me to wait a minute becuse she wanted to make sure that pooh was still there and not on a break. Not only did she check for me but actually had a beautiful black and white photograph signed and dedicated to my niece from POOH himself.
Some people ask me sometimes what i like best of Disneyland, before all the attractions and beauty of the park Those wonderful CM's that make me feel like there is still Walt's Magic in the air. I left immediately filled with some excitement and went directly to the hospital and presented the gifts to my niece and the emotion and happiness i felt when she asked me if pooh really wanted to see her soon and that she wanted to say thank you and give him a big hug. She is out of the hospital now recovering miraculously (she was declared dead for a couple minutes) and although the doctor does not reccomend us taking her to see pooh for at least six more months she insists that we take her. THANK YOU CM's
The pictures i took when i gave her the gifts are something i will always treasure.

That is such a great story, this may sound lame but it brought tears to my eyes. I am glad that you found such great CM's to help you. I hope that your neice keeps getting better.
