Maaaaan. People can't figure out the difference between staged attraction and real animal killing. I can imagine a desk woman in her mid 30's going to work and her boss telling her to call Disneyland about animal treatment of fake hippos. We have a long way to go as a society.

Also to add..
I remember a few years ago women groups complained about women being chased by men in POTC, and didn't they change it and change it back?
I think they only changed it to where the pirates were chasing "food"... it's still like that, so no they didn't change it back.

Yes, as NoSoupForYou (I love that name) said, they added some props so that the women were now carrying food and it was implied that the pirates were chasing the women to get the food, not *ahem* other things. I never quite understood how women could complain about the men chasing the women, when there was also an animatronic woman chasing a couple pirates near the end of the scene. It was all done for humor, and sadly those without humor always ruin everything for the majority of the world.Originally posted by NoSoupForYou

NOTE TO READERS: YellowMan has been known to joke around from time to time. Please don't take some posts by him to their full, literal meaning. Doing so will most likely end in one of the following: making a fool of YellowMan, making a fool of yourself, making a fool of Ronald Reagan, drymouth, or in rare cases, death. Thank you and enjoy your stay.

I never understood why they took that part out, either. But then again, I'm not some uber-feminist. But you know what is ironic about it all? They still have the scene where the women are being sold to the drunken pirates. ("We want the redhead!!") I think that people need to lighten up, Disneyland is a place to forget about being uptight, stuffy, and PC. LOLOriginally posted by YellowMan

I always figured that the skippers were shooting the AREA where the hippos were swimming, not the hippos themselves.
The hippos then were scared by the guns noise and sank below the water.
Some people...sheesh.
