The article didnt really offend me at all.....it just wasnt funny, period.
To his and her own I guess....
And thank you all for keeping on the topic of the article itself and not the writer.
Thanks!

I should clarify. I didn't find it offensive that he was mocking the war. I found it offensive in the sense that it hurt my intelligence...

It was not even offensive at all. If you ask me people these days get offended way to easily. I mean c'mon people choose you battles, don't sweat the small stuff!

04-12-2003 09:58 PM #26I can only speak for myself, but I did not consider it offensive, just not the least bit humorous. I understood what the article was trying to convey, but in my opinion it just fell flat.Originally posted by SNL Addict

To each his own indeed.
I managed to find some humor in Al's update. Humor is a very personal matter, and no one is either wrong or right to find something funny or not.
But it is simply incorrect to assume that the update was not funny simply because you did not find it funny.
The Iraqi Minister of Information is currently an infamous source of humor for all sorts of comic perveyors (admittedly many of them more practiced and polished than Mr. Lutz).
Nevertheless the joke quotes and hastily photoshopped inserts to the pictures also hastily provided (by none other than a regular poster to these boards) were, to me, a welcome attempt at humor thrown into a thrown-together update of breaking news.
It's not often that there's Disneyland "breaking news," and I give Al some points in attempting to generate some laughs in what must have been a very quickly assembled update. Certainly, the irony of comparing the never-quite-truthful (to say the least) Disney information aparatus with the never-quite-truthful (to say the least) Iraqi information aparatus was timely and appropriate. Whether it was funny will always be a matter of opinion. But I got a kick out of it and, yes, a few laughs.

It was funny for the first couple paragraphs but then the joke just got old. Okay okay we get it, they're going to repel the infidels from Disneyland....

I thought it was just plain boring.

04-13-2003 01:01 PM #30Actually.. if it's my opinion that the article is unfunny, then it is very correct for me to assume such... just as it is correct for you to assume it funny. On a discussion format such as this, I think it goes without saying that each person's stance is drawn from personal opinion... just because you don't preface everything with in my opinion... doesn't mean you're over-generalizing things. I'm sure there were a number of people who did find Al's article funny, and that's quite fine.. however, I am one who did not... so naturally I'm going to say the article was without humor and read rather badly-- that's what I got out of it, and it goes without saying that's what I'm going to pass along to others.Originally posted by innerSpaceman
