I agree with all of the above. Cute idea, poorly executed, hard to read. Now this is funny...

Tron2.0, sorry to ruffle your feathers. It was a generalization on my part not directed at anyone in particular.
It probably applies to some and not others.Slaakker

What I think is funny is that People still rag on Al, find his articles un-funny, wrong, or just plain stupid, yet continue to read his stuff.
Now that's funny!

I found the article sporadically humorous. The doctored Iraqi Info Minister quotes were great, but they seemed to be inserted almost as an afterthought and, in many cases, disrupted the natural flow of the article.
The overall idea of inserting such a colorful personality into a PR department with a track record similar to that of the Information Ministry was hilarious, I thought. Al's execution of the concept did, however, leave much to be desired.
When he doesn't keep a flat joke going on for too long, I find his humor endearing. In this case, a good idea was repeatedly bludgeoned until nothing but a faint red stain remained on the ground.END OF LINE

Mmmm... Nice avatar, Uncle Dick! Oh, and welcome to the boards. I never see you post here, even though you've been registered for over a year now. Hope to see you around.

And if my probation officer asks, it's not another manifestation of my insane, and, since the restraining order came though, illegal obsession with a certain female whose name I cannot repeat due to the aforementioned legal issues surrounding such an utterance.Originally posted by driftwood714

I personaly thought that it was a clever idea, and funny. But it did lack a good flow. What you've got to realize is that Al probably didn't mean to offend anyone by that -- it was meant to be humorous.

Actually, I loved it, even with all of it's bad humor. Somehow, he just has this way of communicating that I find extremly pleasing. Always have, always will, I guess.

So I tend to think that he did mean to approach or cross the line of good taste. And it worked, because we are talking about it. I have long compared his work to the National Enquirer, in that if you look hard enough there may be a singular grain of the truth, but the majority is meant to generate interest in the product.Originally posted by Lacrosse Boy

Some of Al's fans get offended when this theory is espoused, but they shouldn't. He fancies himself an entertainer, so why not treat him as such? Some people will find it entertaining, and others will not.

His report seemed heavily influenced by the aforementioned and wildly popular welovetheiraqiinformationminister.com website which has been featured in numerous newspapers and television news segments. Heck, the minister has been spoofed on all of the comedy shows I've watched lately. Considering all of this, I seriously doubt that mainstream America is offended by comical portrayals of MSS, which leads me to believe that criticism about the appropriateness of Al's most recent column is based more on a personal distaste for Al rather than true offense. Just my opinion. So I tend to think that he did mean to approach or cross the line of good taste.END OF LINE
