I realize that the park has TOT but thatis more of a thril ride for young people and not really in the scare factor or fun factor of the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.
I am thinking of a nice family dark ride style Haunted house. Something a little more daring than Haunted Mansion but not over the top grotesque that Knott's does for Halloween.
A Mystery of sorts.
For example they could take the same story concept as TDS' ToT but instead of placing it in a hotel with a thrill drop at the end set it in a Museum. (just by looking at the elaborate queue inside TDS TOT, it could almost be an attarction on itself).
I know that making it a walkthru might not work (something Walt Disney had thought of doing for the original Haunted Mansion) for capacity reasons (people tend to stop and want to go back when they encounter a dark scary arae in a maze like environment) but a track system that has more movement than a people mover might be ineteresting.
How about you start of the attraction as a walk thru (the queue) of a museum or rare and unusual objects. At one point A CM seperates a group of people and takes us into "THE MAIN" exhibit of the collection. The tiki becomes posessed and we realize that the room we are in has suddenly changed. (they could easily use screen effects to make the walls look didferently as an example kind of how they make the walls at muppet look like they have beeen blown out, i am sure there are so many new effects and technology that WDI has been using to make the room look transformed) At this point we leave the room and walk thru a couple more displays that have now been altered. We get the feeling that something is wrong and we board our vehicles. The vehicles could use newer track technology that gives movement to the vehicles that would help them interact with scenes thruout the dark ride portion.
I am thinking of something that could be enjoyed by all (something TOT is not) yet has a diferent feeling than the Haunted Mansion.
Agina this new haunted experience can be themed to fit the pier environment or even a a small village environment easily.

i have to agree with DLFREAK. TDS tower and DCA's Tower have nothing in common except for the skeletal foundation of the building and the elevator shafts.
The rest the inside lobby, libray/office and indoor queue area as well as everything outside are completely dieferntly themed. TDS inside queue is amazing with all the museum artifacts. I would even call that an attraction by itself even if the elevator thrill was not there

I really don't like the cartoonish murals of the Tokyo Disney Tower of Terror, but I think the pre-show combined with the Enchanted Tiki Room could make a great ride. I think people get bored sitting still though the Tiki Room is stilla great show. Imagine same story explorer steal idols- through the storage room. Then all of a sudden artifacts come alive and you board an omnimover where birds and tiki masks are singing and everything comes to life. They could bring back the full track, and it'd be awesome!

That's what we should expect. We were never promised anything.

I dunno why we should expect so little though I suppose a repaving project would be a bit of a big thing to expect I don't see any reason to not want one
Disney will spend money on DCA I can't believe that they'd ignore it forever
I would say that at the very least I'd expect more trees for shade
if Disney doesn't see how the heat can be terrible in this area midday in the summer then they are worse off then I thought
they could at least put those misting fans out like USH does

See Paradise Pier is sort of a tough spot,it needs more trees to make it more shady however if they add trees it sort of takes away from the "beach" theme, and the trees that would compliment the beach theme wouldnt provide any shade ie: palm trees.
They need to think of other ways to provide shade, maybe victorian awnings over the walkways? or something of that nature, simply adding trees will take away from the theme.I mean when was the last time you saw full grown bushy trees growing on a pier?

your deffinatly correct there I just know they need to take some serious action for shade there though especialy since it's not near the real ocean and lacks the real ocean breaze that would otherwise be there
so yeah they could do artificial shade of sorts which would be cool
or they could install some of those USH fans and try to hide them in places to simulate a sea breaze
either way if it's cooler and more tolerable in that area I'll be happy
I would still like a stronger themed walkway though I'll admit it's closer to the bottum of my list
my list pretty much goes
1. shade or at least something to cool down this area
2. stronger themed midway buildings to help with both the visual appeal of this area durring the day and the new attractions facade
3. stronger themed walkway
