For the record, Australians are now currently happy because our prices have just dropped to the lowest in a long, long, time at ~US$3.70 a gallon

Very true. America truely is too reliant on the car... but y'know, I use it out in the desert... so I wouldn't use mass transit much... but man, if I could use it to get to school... without taking 2 hours to go 10 miles (on our amazing bus system) I gladly would.

I want this
http://www.taxi2000.com/
or this
http://www.skytran.net/
Door to door personal rapid transit. Go wherever you want for ten cents a mile. We have the technology to do this today, we just need to get people motivated to build it.
PRT can change the world.

Hey, things are worse here on the east coast. Check out these numbers:
Giants Stadium, in the middle of marshland with no transportation : $20.00.
Madison Square Garden: no parking at all, at the mercy of private garages that start at $25 and go MUCH higher. Yankee Stadium has no main lot, just some garages. Either pay their high fee, or leave your car on the Street in the South Bronx. (At least it will be on the street for a little while). Shea Stadium is building a new stadium in the parking lot of the old one. Urban thugs charge people to park on the street as 'protection' money. You don't have to pay, but how much does that windshield cost ? They are building a new "Giants/Jets" stadium right next to the existing one; yes right in the parking lot. No mass transit option, and they will never build one and lose 27,000 spaces at $20 per game for 20 games (is that 10.8 million bucks just for the football games). And where will the fans/suckers park while the new one is being built and the old one torn down? Nobody knows. And of course, since NYC is a system of islands, you pay tolls to go to different venues. Six bucks rd trip across the Hudson River and 9 bucks rd trip across the East river. If I want to go to Shea or Yankee, it costs me 15 in tolls, plus parking. And when the US open is in town, they use the same limited parking as Shea....that is something to behold.
Disneyland at 11 bucks seems like a bargain !
