I agree with alot of points raised, but Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth! My family and I have been there at least 2 times per year for the last 10 years. Even before we walk thru those gates, when we are making those reservations with WDT, we expect the Disney attitude. This brings excitement to the trip that is planned. Yes, we have encountered many CM's with bad attitudes, and we ususally comment amongst ourselves "they forgot to put on their "Disney Face" this morning!" But, we have also encountered many CM's that will go out of their way to help, and make that trip more magical than could be expected!
Our children (5, 10) also ask every time we ride BTR to ride in the back. We have never had that happen to us. I am the one who usually says, no lets just go where they put us, it is really busy today! And I agree, that CM should have NEVER put her hands on your sister, unless it was for a safety reason, to keep her out of harms way. I would have been very upset also.
We have also seen trash, especially during the busy times. They can only get to so much. I have worked in retail and in the past the government (15 yrs). When it is that busy, it is hard to get to things with so many people and crowds. I think they are doing the best that they can, but the people who come thru those gates should also respect this magical place, and help keep it magical, and not be slobs.
Yes, we will be coming back (April, Easter 2007, and Dec - NYE), so please do not let this detour you from coming back. You have had many other happy memories, and will have many, many more!

I don't agree with that at all. I work at a job where I deal with customers everyday. On several occasions, people have told us that we don't look happy enough and what we did was much more logical than the illogical cast member, we kept our mouths SHUT!. We kept our mouths shut and smiled, we didn't say a thing, and everything was fine, they walked away. That is how she should have dealt with the situation, she made an idiotic move and she should have been warned or at least had some sort of reprimand for it.
While this isn't Disney related, I was shopping today, just for a fresh made pizza from the meal department. I found a Hawaiin pizza, sitting there, barely any cheese, 6 pineapple chunks and the ham on the corners of the pizza had turned a beautiful grey color. I noticed the girl wrapping some new ones so I just waited to take the better pizza because I especially wasn't going to eat discolored meat, then she got snippy at me, saying, we already got one out there. I told her that the ham literally looked like crap and she just gave me a whatever look. I still got my pizza though, but my, my, that's not excusable especially when the customer is the one that is paying for your paycheck. Is not wanting a pizza with grey ham too much to ask for nowadays? I could have asked her to make a brand new fresh one but I was good enough to just wait for the new one to come out.I find the slacker thing increasing everywhere I go. I hate it when I go to spend money I worked hard for - only to have someone seem annoyed that I am walking up to their cash register. Heaven forbid you are expected to do the job that you applied for!

You have to remember that cast members have to deal with ignorant guests all day long, and one stupid guest can ruin sombodys day. So having to deal with hundreds upon thousands of guests every day can sort of become a pain in the butt, and will just make you want to go home and never come back to work. So blame the general public for cracky CM's. ALSO Disney had once had higher standards of CM's at one point, those standards have been gutted so you will find a stick in the mud every once in a while.
Your poor experiance was not disney, nor the CM's fault. Its the publics, for having no respect for the people who have to slave and deal with them all day, everyday, and for having no repect for one of Americans greatest landmarks, for throwing trash on the ground and into the rivers of america or jungle cruise. BUT Disney does need to up the grounds keeping crew a bit, i still feel its not their fault.

I went last summer and every one was super nice and I fined, in any situation, that when you are nice and patient with others they will be the same with you.

Attitude problem identified. Not the best attitude if you expect to be treated with respect and courtesy whether it's DL or Burger King.
Canned on the spot? From your surge of compassion, I'm guessing you've been a member of the work force for some time now.
Letting it go = Getting back to having fun.Tasty!

You know, the employees are paid to be at Disneyland. The guests pay to go there. It's not nearly as important for the employee to have fun as it is for the guest. It's a job you know, and this goes back to the sense of entitlement people have. "You mean I have to WORK to make money?" For a Disneyland employee, "work" means dealing with angry, upset guests and catering to their requests. I worked at Disney World before, in the Fastpass department. People would get upset with me all the time. A guest once shoved me trying to get by me before his time started. I didn't fight back. I probably had the position that made guests the most angry. But I just rolled with the punches, and always put a positive spin on things, trying to be helpful and cover the bad news with the good news, and it worked. Was it fun? Sometimes, but rarely. But I did it, and I got paid, and when I was tired of doing it, I changed jobs. That's the way it goes. I never touched a guest or raised my voice at one.
I think that's a great idea. If you can't deal with Disneyland guests, don't work there. Maybe this Sarah lady would be better off working as a Sherrif's deputy in a prison or somewhere else where it's not her job to make people happy.
