What's interesting this year is that they are keeping the Holiday Season offerings up until January 7. They used to end it, at least the parade and fireworks and such, around the 3rd.

i happen to be one of those person that visit every Christmas Day cus we celebrate a friends birthday on that day. This Christmas day they had signs saying that Disneyland was sold out.
As we were entering the parking structure a CM came up to us and told us if we knew that Disneyland was sold out. We mentioned to her that we had premiums and said we would be let in but then when we mentioned to her that we had a first timer she said we might be able to get tickets for DCA for her if they did not also stop ticket sales. I told her we were buying our friend her first annual pass and she said that if it was not a premium then we would have to pay for an extra fee for a blockout ticket so that later in the evening our friend could maybe be allowed into Disneyland to get her picture taken.
(since they never block out the day the pass is sold i did not listen) i went ot the ticket booth told the CM what we were doing and she said the other CM was wrong and that the passes are not blocked the day you first purchase them. She also said don't worry the park is crowded but as a precuation the no more Disneyland tickets had been placed up to allow the park to empty out a bit.

When we entered Disneyland it really did not seam as packed as other days they close it because of crowds.

I think they are trying to even out the crowds a bit and avoid people from becoming fustrated by stopping ticket sells for a couple hours when park is reaching capacity

Sounds logical, especially since you said it wasn't that bad. The crowds were probably evened out.
