Christmas vacation has come and gone, but it is still possible to go to the park on high capacity days and have a great time. We went on January 3, (also posted signs that afternoon that DL was full) but we got there at 8:30 am. We caught the first tram, NO LINE to get into DL, fast passed our butts off during the morning in both DL and DCA, and hit every ride we aimed for and saw both parades by the time we ran out of energy at 9:15 pm. The only thing we gave up on was the fireworks as the line to get back into DL was ginormous after DCA was closing. So...any time you are headed over there on a vacation day, I would suggest going WAY before noon, and 1/2 hr before the park opens if you can. During Christmas vacation, DL opened at 8:00 am, and I think the gates open as early as 7:30 am. We've also been in June with school out and had similar luck hitting most of our rides before 11:00 am.

Can't stress that enough. Even on days when Disneyland will eventually close the gates, if you get into the parks between 8am - 11am you can cover A LOT of ground and rides.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."
Disneyland. My Anti-drug.
