The California theme in principle and name are not going anywhere. The Placemaking Project for DCA is to take the park from today's setting back to a time period of what California was like during Walt Disney's early years in the state. That would allow for some 1920, 30, 40 and a little bit of 50's themed overdressing.

Also, Incredibles does not appear to be opening until 2009 and not any eariler at this point in time. There is another new attraction being seriously considered for Paradise Pier that would open prior to Incredibles.

And the attractions in Route 66 do not go away. Route 66 to San Francisco is being considered to become one land and rethemed to a type of "Carland" concept paying tribute to California's love affair with cars. Although it is still years before that section would be touched, so that could very easily change in concept and scope.

Remember, this project isn't projected to end until 2010, so anything is possible with concepts we hear today changing either very little or in major ways between now and 4 years from now.

Bingo. The land is not totally based on the Disney-Pixar film but rather inspired by cars in general in California.

Don't get your hopes up, Nemo88. We can see that Iger is a huge tease (in a positive way) and all Disney did by showing the different concept renderings was show that they are planning projects that may or may not see the light of day. This is really just a nice move to get shareholders excited about the possibilities of the future.

I say this because I don't think the Future Theme Park or Toy Story Live is anywhere near getting that green light.

Well, from right now, it only looks like the ride itself is based on Cars, and the ride vehicles themselves don't resemble characters. Still, though, it's probably because this is a ride to actually get excited about, instead of a Buzz Lightyear clone at DCA. I still think the whole use of Pixar films for new rides is ridiculous.

    hahaha
SOME people grumble about Pixar. I'm firmly in the camp of loving Pixar and in no way opposed to new attractions based on Pixar. I am, however, firmly in the camp of never wanting to see anything with Stitch again. I am against the Stitchification of anything including drinking straws dagnabit! I secretly threw away my childrens' copy of that movie. Yes I hate it that much. Of course now it is well preserved in a landfill which means that stupid thing will survive well into the future! Doh! Got to remember to use fire...

I really don't care what the theme of the attractions are. Wether they are Pixar, Disney movies or just plain new concpets as long as they are entertaining, well done and somehow tie in to the land or park they are placing it in.

Toy story Mania even with its name change will fit perfectly with the pier. I really can't say the same for the clone being built in MGM. Yes the "Midway" was removed but the design elements are still about a midway area. Now how does that fits in to a movie studio?

If WDW would have been smart they would have just asked that the attraction be built with the same technology but redressed to represent scenes from diferent movies. Kind of like going thru movie scenes and having to do diferent obstacles to free the good guy of that particle movie. Basically base it off the dozens of interactive video games Disney has.

Okay I was having a hard time imagining a Carland area so here is a picture. I placed a yellow frame around the area of the farm and a total GUESS about the backstage area being used. If the land will have two more attractions plus shops I'm sure it will be larger than the frame. It is interesting to see how HPBL will be able to connect to the farm area.

And my question is where will the main drag of Radiator Springs be placed? At the end of the street just beyond TOT or in place of the Farm?

I'm also wondering how much of the attraction will be below ground? This is an option that Florida didn't have so who knows what they are planning here? A whole new land is so exciting!

That's pretty much how I was picturing it, as well. Thanks for posting that.

How about right along the tram route thats already there. Plenty of space on either side for shops/ facades. leaving plenty of room in the farm and to the south of the drag or attractions. This also preserves the connection to existing roadways for after hours/ possible parade use. Just trying apply the KISS principle to the area you outlined. Hey, It's all speculation right?

Back when, I wasn't the avid MI reader that I am now. Can someone outline the Incredibles ride concept for me? I know that it had to do with a big robotic arm or something....

well robotic arm coasters are already being built. Its nothing completely new, they were at that theme park convention. Cool new concept tho for a new way to ride roller coasters, the only thing is each robotic arm costs 1 million dollars + and only holds about 4-6 guests. Thats what I know about robotic arm coasters, not much about the incredables ride.
