Here is the current Newspaper Ad being run (I saw the same one this weekend in the LA Times), but I am using one of Darkbeer's photos, since it is available and easy to grab.

So Disney is still saying Pay for Disneyland and get DCA for Free.

And I also found these comments made by Darkbeer over at LaughingPlace
http://mb.laughingplace.com/MsgBoard-T-94889-P-4.asp
Let's look at this another way...
I know of 4 locations in the World that have 2 (and just 2) Major Theme Parks right next to one another at the same location.
They are...
1. Tokyo Disney Resort
2. Universal Orlando
3. Disneyland Paris Resort
4. Disneyland Resort
The most Popular is the TDR location, which had over 26 million people attend in 2007 (Official numbers released by the OLC). And the TEA/ERA numbers have the attendance basically split, with slightly more folks going to Tokyo Disneyland than Disney Seas (53%/47% breakdown). This is also a heavily attended Local park, as the majority of folks travel in for just a day, and leave the TDR in the evening, in fact, I think it has a higher Local percentage than the Anaheim resort.
In the USA, Universal Orlando has the same basic breakdown for its two parks, 53% to 47%. Now this park has more out of town visitors attending than locals, but still has a pretty even split when you compare the 2 parks.
In France, you have a major difference, With Disneyland Paris getting the vast majority, 83% as compared to the WDS park at 13%. But Disney basically admitted it was building a half day park, as it was under contract with the French Government to build a second park within 15 years of EuroDisneyland opening (and it opened just in time to meet the contract), and priced its tickets accordingly, including the right to enter Disneyland Paris at no extra charge after 4 PM.
And then you have the Disneyland Resort, which Disneyland gets 72% of the Resort Attendance...
Here is something I wrote for another website
http://micechat.com/forums/blog.php?b=299
>>So the Disneyland Resort had a total attendance of 20,550,000 for its two parks in 2007, based on the TEA/ERA report, which makes it about 3 to 1 of folks attending Disneyland as compared to DCA (the percentage is actually 27.6%).
And of course, most of DCA's attendance comes from discounted Multi-Day ParkHoppers, the 2fer program (which now runs thru May 22nd, even though Disney has failed to update its TV and Print ads, which still shows an April end. Disneyland.com has the correct ending date), Annual Passholders, Comps and sign-ins. Very few single day tickets are sold for DCA. So you can see why Disney is investing so much money over the next few years to improve the park.<<
So you can see that the two other locations not run by the "Walt Disney Company" (since the TDR is run by the Oriental Land Company) pretty much have 2 equal but seperate parks.
But the 2 recent WDC controlled locations decided to build a "lesser" park as its second location, but at Anaheim, they still try and claim they charge the same price for both parks, while in reality, we know the current ticket system is designed to get folks that are interested in visiting Disneyland to take some time and check out the second park, instead of trying to market it separately.

^And thats a bad thing [referring to the lst sentence]? It's their [Disney} own park, they can market it, do whatever with it because it's their park.
I still think its funny how after all these years people personify DCA as if it makes its own decisions. "DCA does this...DCA isn't that...yadda yadda yadda." It's equal to DL. Same company. SAME SAME SAMEEEEEE.

I agree, cinder. Since when did Darkbeer become the last word on Disney parks?

No, it's saying if you visit Disneyland park one day, DCA is free. It could very easily say visit DCA one day, Disneyland park is free. But Disneyland being the major star, she gets top billing. Why would you want to lead with DCA and leave Disneyland park in the details?

I never said he was the last word on Disney parks.
I said he was sort of an unofficial historian concerning DCA. Look at his DCA thread with all the newspaper articles. The guy has done his research. I admire his effort to preserve the true history of DCA and not the Disney version. The park doesn't have to meet capacity. It just has to meet projections Disney sets for itself. The projections are well documented in many newspaper articles published leading up to the grand opening of the park.
