I agree, the float was a bit awkward. Hopefully they have time to replace it this year if not we should see its replacement next year.

That was 1999. Best ACF ever. Back when the parade had characters instead of a never-ending supply of elves. They have cut nearly all the characters from that parade and replaced them with elves. Who cares about elves?!
Go ahead dlfreak, tell them what you told me about POD and WDW.Jaleel White does not approve.

oh i also forgot to mention that WDW management i having doubts about POD's going to the Magic Kingdom. Seems like they do not want to spend the effort and money on upgrading their facilities to handle the large floats as well as making room fo the other parades they run there.
So at the end POD might end up being homeless unless cutbacks and lack of decisions on Disneylands anniversary parade are not made promptly and we end up seeing POD stick around a bit longer

Well if we're talking rumblings today, I also heard the same, Ish. You've heard the same so makes those rumblings rather loud but Disney World doesn't want to spend money on expanding the parade infrastructure necessary for POD so they will NOT be getting POD. Count that as two grains of salt for the pile.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

Well that kinda sucks for MK. The Dreams Come True parade just needs to go away same goes for that castle float.... I guess that just means more POD for me to see

I hope DEP gets the rest of the floats. The Pinocchio unit is one of my favorites. Nice to also see ACF getting some new stuff.
So whats this talk of a new nighttime parade for DCA???
I would also love to see Main Street covered in snow, it would make the Matterhorn fit with Main Street in a way."Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life." Walt Disney

I'd love to see Pinocchio and the Dwarf's mine return to the parade, but I wouldn't want them to remove the Blue Fairy. It's the most memorable and classic float.
The new Toy float had better be awesome as the original was great.
It seems odd to me that they are replacing the parade when DCA doesn't have one at all.

well, the cats out of the bag...yep, I've heard the same.

Sad that WDW won't pay for updating their parade infrastructure and technology. I mean c'mon, for the so-called "most visited" Magic Kingdom park in the world that charges the most for admission, it's a joke.
Thing is, they are going to have to do it sometime or other...backstage, storage, parade route, sound system, lighting even, and more...if they want to stage parades that WDI-CE produces and makes. The standards of quality have been seriously raised since Eureka, POD, BPB, Mythica, Jubilation!, etc...

As for DEP, I think it's great if they can bring back those float units. The parade seems a bit incomplete and short without them.
THANK GOD it's not only me that notices.
ACF, while a good holiday parade, has been streamlined and sort of homogenized since the late nineties/early 2000s...they used to feature some more rare characters, not to mention the classic christmas homecoming unit...as well as they used to rearrange and change out things every few years or so. I remember taping the parade in 98 or 99 and it clocked in at like 40-45 minutes, now it's about 19 or 20 minutes.
Now, things have been the same in terms of order and characters, and in the last few years, it's been elves, elves, elves...c'mon now, the christmas parade is a special event that is a perfect opportunity to put out some rarely seen characters (remember the Toy Factory unit with the misc. 90s characters and their sidekicks, and pooh and gang as well), not to mention change things up a bit. It sadly, and I can't believe I'm saying this, has become stale.
While I think it's nice that they are doing this sort of rolling refurb through the years...it seems a bit redundant in that they are sort of just replacing the same concept with a newer look.
I love this parade, don't get me wrong, but I don't look forward to it in the way I used to.

I see what your talking about with ACF.
From 1999 not the best quailty but better than nothing.
I see lots of characters, live horses, a float I'v never seen before, the "silly" raindeer and the parades lights plus spot lights."Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life." Walt Disney

ok, more rumors...
Al Lutz mentioned that the World of Wonder parade (now coming in 2010) will feature a Pirates of the Caribbean float and an Adventureland float...hmmmm, so does this mean that the concept is a "land" based parade?
what happened to Silly Symphonies, Fantasia, and Princess and the Frog?
Perhaps they're folded into this?
hmmmm???
