And where's your complaint when people are exaggerating the opposite? Why is it okay to exaggerate when people complement the attraction, but then when somebody cites a very specific audience's reactions, we must jump all over them for exaggerating the results?
Because this is a Disney fan site. The exaggerations to the positive reflect a positive feeling toward the Company or land or attraction, etc. If you want the opposite, go to a Disney rant site.

    Here's a question - why can't Al just say "I think it's a total failure" or "I hate it."
Why bring in words like "unanimous" when he knows he can't prove it. Unanimous among who? The 5 miscreant 'yes' men you surround yourself with? Well, if so, yeah, I guess that's one way to look at it.

Do you really think everyone that wrote into Al said it was a "total failure?" Or is that more editorializing on his part?
And fine, where's the number of emails he received telling him this? How many didn't say it was a "total failure?" Is that all he's basing his claim that the US scene is a total failure? Emails he's received???

There is no bright side for some people, TS. It's all a dismal "total failure."

For some reason, that makes them feel better.

Well, let's review again what he wrote:

Thanks for all your feedback on my small world review. The response was huge, and the opinions offered were all over the map. There was one near unanimous point of agreement though; that the new America room was a complete and total failure.
Granted, he took creative license, but that's what writers do. "near unanimous" does not equal everyone. However, as was said earlier, do you really think that people who would write Al are going to disagree with him? For instance, did you write Al?

Furthermore, do you really think he's going to post every single e-mail he got, just so you can browse over them with a fine-toothed comb?

And yes, it would seem he's making a judgment based on the e-mails he received. Which is what he said. He said that there was a consensus among the e-mails he received that the American scene was a total failure.

What I did find funny was that, last weekend, I happened to meet up with my parents at the park and we rode it. They completely loved all the changes... except for America. They thought it was really lame and poorly executed. I was quite amused by their opinion and it reminded me of this thread.

It's marching orders. Pure and simple.

    Yeah, writer's of fiction.

Are editorials in newspapers marching orders?

No. Because they are covering a wide array of subject matter. Al's is only covering Disney. But mostly because newspapers DO offer up a counter-point to the editorial spin.
Could you even possibly imagine MiceAge giving a counter-point to Al's "editorial?"

MiceChat member Fishbulb had photos and a review of the ride featured on MiceAge.com's main page on the day of AP Preivews. His opinions differ from Al's.

Overall, the new Small World attraction is just fine. Concerns about this redo may have been overblown. Many were concerned about the purity of the ride being compromised - and to a degree it is. But frankly the ride was previously annoying at times. Adding Disney characters and musical arrangements really didn’t detract from the experience. I still walked away from the ride with that ear worm of a song stuck in my head and a rosey outlook on world affairs. The children I rode with in the boat all enjoyed trying to find the disney characters amongst the class dolls - almost like an “eye spy” game. The ride still does what it was always intended to do . . . entertain.
To be fair, Fishbulb didn't include opinions on the America scene other than saying it was "brash" in a caption for a photo.

So if a writer in a column said,

"I spoke to a number of Republicans about the President, today. Everybody agreed that Obama is a moron."

You'd find that as marching orders, instead of just reporting on what the writer experienced?

Right. The non-fiction press NEVER makes broad statements or generalizes to save time/print space/simplify a point/etc.
