Anyone at Disneyland on Friday night for Fantasmic!? Man, that was crazy busy! They played the "Fantasmic! is FULL!" announcement several times, before both of the shows. And when they have to admit via public address system that an entertainment venue is full, then you know it's really full!
And trust me, Fantasmic! was full on Friday night! Wall to wall, shoulder to shoulder people. It was like a New Years Eve without the party hats.

Saw the Electrical Parade tonight after it started 10 minutes late due to "unforseen circumstances" (or Disney's plan to keep people from running from DCA to Disneyland after the parade to see Magical?). I really don't care for the new music. It's too "warm" as they were calling it. It's the Electrical Parade. The music should be sharp and stand out. All I kept hearing was the constant bass beat..
Otherwise, the new Tink float is really nice! I like the pixie dust trails also. They did that very well. I forgot how small the Pinocchio floats were.. But was great to see them again. Also, the butterfly on top of a mushroom in the Alice part now moves its wings! Also, a new frog on the back of another mushroom catches a bug with his tongue! I that that was great! (easily amused here) Also, the new fireworks on the To Honor America float are really cool. Now if they would only redo the ones in Small World Holiday like those!

Some are saying the music is quite different than TDL's Dreamlights. Now I'm really curious...
And it seems Al is up to his sensationalizing once again -
I heard the crowds were new years eve bad, and it is not like Tink (or now Dumbo) haven't had issues when they can't fly (and I wouldn't want either one of them risking their life for a damn show, if you know what I meanEditor's Note 6/13: What a Nightastic mess! Not only was the Dragon down, but Dumbo failed to fly and crowd control for Fantasmic was a disaster last night. I suggest holding off on a visit until Disneyland gets its act together.
), and everyone already knows the dragon is down...so truly, was it that bad? Was it really this colossal mess?

If that's what happened then that's what happened. What is so bad about someone recommending that others hold off on their vacation until Disney works out the kinks? If you're an annual passholder you can always go back and see Dumbo fly. But if you're only going on a once-a-year trip, maybe wait a couple weeks. Hell, wait a few months to see the new dragon. Not everybody has to go now, now, now.

First off, to be clear, Al Lutz is my senior editor...
But I pretty much have free reign on what I do...
Got to the park a bit later than I planned, but attended the DEP and got some great pictures (chck the link at the end of the post).
But the DEP was delayed, and I was told by multiple CM's that it was delayed ONLY to keep folks at DCA and prevent them to heading to Disneyland, since they had serious capicity issues.
The Magical fireworks started about the time the DEP got to "Bathroom Row", where the CM's were forcing guests to exit via the Grizzly Peak area....
The lines to enter Disneyland were insane, and of course, so where the tram lines, so many folks (including us) decided to walk to the Parking Structure....
Yes, it was the first day of the "new" shows, but it was not the best day at the parks....Check out my photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com

Insane crowds yes, but a lot of rides were walk on after the entertainment ended lol.
Lets see...
Fantasmic- The new Croc is pretty darn good. The eels seemed kind of distracting and just placed into the Ursula part and not integrated... but they looked good. About crowd control, at a point right after I wormed my way through Adventureland past pirates, the CMs started telling people that Fantasmic was full and to turn around. This was the 10:30 showing. I noted during the show that a few cues were ever so slightly off (steamboat willie pyro, barge lighting wipes during the princess part etc.)... maybe I just noticed because I love the show and have it memorized.
Fairy Glen... thing... place- The little show they do there every 15 minutes is small, yet very charming. I really enjoyed it. The kind of green glitter the place has during the night adds a cool feel to it.
Now I need to go catch the fireworks in person and then the electrical parade...

There was a group of kids LOVING the fact that Mulholland Madness was a walk on until they closed it down at 9 PM (Official Park Closing), even though the parade hasn't started yet.. . Multiple trips up the queue until they were told that the ride was closed.... A group of about 10,....
