It could be several different reasons, perhaps technical...but do remember that Tink and Dumbo can only take flight under the right conditions, and those are quite rigid. Have there been high winds lately, or anything else?
They are not going to risk the safety and lives of either Ms. Bell or little Jumbo Jr. for the sake of the perfect show.
I'm sure most rational people get that Disney wasn't doing it deliberately...but sadly less and less people seem to be rational. I'm also guessing it was for technical, safety or possibly weather conditions. Wasn't what I would consider windy on Monday but I know that winds can be higher up in the "fly zone". Note that they did have the door at the top of the matterhorn open initially so I wonder if conditions changed during the show?

Of course safety is paramount, but the fact that people pay good money to see the new shows and few of the signature attractions are working is a legitimate reason to complain. Nobody should get in a cast member's face, but I don't see anything wrong with letting people know how things are going with these shows and that maybe they should hold off on a trip until stuff starts working consistently.

Remember, annual passholders can always go next week (or next day if they are so inclined). Those who make a trip once a year or once every few years should probably hold off if that's possible.

/\/\/\ If it's a safety issue, who do you want people to complain to? God? For making it too windy?

Yep. See the above post for an example.

So Dumbo isn't working. Is this a sign of the Apocolypse?

Exactly what I was thinking. I have an annual pass, but I also live out of state and can only make a trip once every 4 or so months, so for me to try to get to the resort to see the summer nightastic stuff during the June to August time frame is tight. After hearing about this new summer stuff in May, I was able to schedule a short 1 1/2 day trip for the beginning of July. Now here it is almost a month since this stuff started and it seems like 1/2 the time Dumbo isn't flying and of course we know what happened to the Fantasmic dragon. I understand technical difficulties and whatnot but if it's something that can't be done regularly/consistantly then don't do it. Lots of us aren't able to come and go to the parks the next day or week or month for a hit or miss thing. Don't get me wrong, I love Disneyland, but it's very frustrating when you spend your time and money to go and what's advertised ain't happening!

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

It's a pretty sure bet that if winds were any issue at all, the whole show would be canceled. Most likely it is some kind of technical issues. The whole rigging is controlled by computers apparently, so changing up the programming to include Tink & Dumbo possibly is causing issues. Then there is the whole thing of switching out Tink with Dumbo in the middle, then back to Tink at the end. Just from an observation standpoint, it a bit more complicated now then for Remember. There is also Dumbo himself.. Someone has to get in there and get harnessed in. You know Disney has major safety rules in place, so if there is any tiny problem, they will scrap that part all together. With the Dragon in Fantasmic not working, the last thing they wanted to was to have Dumbo out as well for an extended time..

I think Spokker is being very rational. If dumbo flying and a dragon were advertised to me and BOTH of them were borken on my trip to Disneyland, I think I have a legitimate beef with them for not delivering what they advertised. If I bought a car that was advertised to have reclining seats, but the reclining seats were eliminated due to a poor design or a "safety issue," I should be able to return the car and get a refund or at least be partially compensated for the lack of reclining seats.

The promotion was poorly planned, poorly presented, and now is falling apart even more. If I were a customer, I'd be pretty pissed off if I went to Disneyland and BOTH the dragon was missing and Dumbo didn't fly. I could have gone during the off season instead.
    So there.
