It's one of those projects that despite not knowing the cost you still think they paid way too much for it.
It just didn't seem to fix the actual problems that small world had in terms of wear and tear other then the flume and instead added more stuff to break and not function.

Are we talking about the same versions of IASW here? DL's has always been in great condition ever since the 50th....

Next we will be seeing how they work the characters into the Christmas overlay. I remember Al mentioning a while back now that they were working on the soundtrack to be able to incorporate the character's music into the holiday music. Who knows if that is still the case though..

Yeah, that's just logistics, though, and wouldn't properly display the new characters correctly. You'd have the new characters competing with the X-mas decorations and it'd all get lost in the holidays. I think they were right to hold off on them until the X-mas decs were taken down.

I think they needed some reason to justify the changes, but outside maybe a month I don't think it effected visitation at all. It certainly wasn't a change on the level of what was done to Pirates.
The only people that probably took any notice were the hardcore fans who would be better pleased with some actual technical improvements

I'm pretty much 100% in agreement with Jspider's assessment of it.
I didn't like the idea of adding the characters but it isn't so offensive that I would never ride it again. I also thought the America scene didn't really fit and looked a little flat and bare compared with the rest of the ride.
One thing I did notice is that people were indeed going through the ride trying to find the characters and pointing them out to one another the couple of times I was on it. Perhaps that was because it was relatively new, but either way it seemed to me that for a lot of people the ride is now more of a "find the character" exercise than anything else. I'm not sure whether that is good in that it will make it more interesting for riders and thus drive attendence, or bad because it takes away from the original idea of the thing.
