Cynthia Harris<< "And as you can imagine this golden anniversary will be nothing like the world has ever seen before because in true Disney fashion we will celebrate this in an extraordinary manner."
I agree with the sentiment that she has said this over and over for at least a year now without actually saying anything. It's getting quite funny actually!![]()
But now I am growing increasingly suspicious because she says it without saying anything at all! And yet she has such a big smile and politicians charm to her when she says it, that it either sets your expectations really, really high, or it makes you a little creeped out by the whole thing.
Is there really a plan for the 50th? How long can they stall and delay on this? And at what point does it become too late to do anything much at all except retrack a 25 year old coaster that needed to be rebuilt and replace a 5 year old parade that needed to be mothballed 1 year after it's debut?![]()
The vapid noise coming from TDA, and the complete lack of official information blanketed by that noise, makes me worry about Disneyland's future and it's 50th Anniversary.

Re: Ms. Harriss Mentioned 50th Yesterday...
Believe still works, so unless it's gonna be extremely better, I'll remain skeptical about a new fireworks show. If it aint broke, you know.
Does anyone know if Steve Davison (who made Believe and Luminaria) will develop this show too?
Agreed. And it's gonna be the exact same track layout, so it's nothing special. The queue should have been changed out with the new Tomorrowland already. I just really hope they bring back the music. I think the ride's pretty dull without it.retrack a 25 year old coaster that needed to be rebuilt
DL is way way way way way way way way way overdue for a new parade. We used to get a new one each few years, not half a decade!and replace a 5 year old parade that needed to be mothballed 1 year after it's debut?
POTS is such a bad parade. I'd be more happy if they just brought back the Hercules parade. I just hope the new parade isn't dull and lifeless like POTS. And leave the guest dancers out, please.Just here. Nowhere.

Well hey, we are both in that minority who loved the cake castle for the kitschy monstrosity that it was.

Announcing plans now could make people who were thinking about coming next year for TOT delay their trip till '05.
My guess would be an announcemnt at TOT's opening or next July, but what do I know.
I just think it's funny how many superlative adjectives she can use without actually saying anything.

"Because right now we are having a wonderful, huge year right hear at the Disneyland Resort."
I don't mean at all to be a pessimist, but what exactly are they doing this year different from the past 3 years?
I like how every single thing she says is like an advertisement. I wonder if she started off as a telemarketer...City Hall Complaint Count: 201

If they announce it on TOT's opening, it's still a little early in the year.My guess would be an announcemnt at TOT's opening or next July, but what do I know.
I think you're right about the 49th birthday. That seems about the right time.
That is unless they still don't have the plans finalized.
BTW, I hated that cake castle pepto bismal thing.Just here. Nowhere.

She started off in her parent's Indiana clothing store as a salesgirl. She worked her way up from there, always in stores and merchandising until she joined Disneyland around '97.

Everything else aside, please give her a break here. She's the spokeswoman for the parks, as well... what do you expect? It's called marketing. (I'm not trying to sound mean.) I just get so tired of everyone being so skeptical that someone is always out to sell them something. Of course she is trying to make it sound good -- it is her JOB as well as major business.
