    Re: Disneylands MidLife Crisis (miceage.com)

Am i the only one offended by Al saying that these performers can not be called athletes? So because it is not one of our country's top five sports, they cant be called athletes? I think it takes 100 times more athletic ability to even drop into a vert ramp than golfing does.

I have only been to DCA twice since the Xgames experience has been going on, but both times the scateboard venue was packed. I did not go to the motorcycle area because it is in the blazing sun and I was really not too interested. My husband enjoyed it, but probably would not sit in the sun to see it again. Yes about 1/3 of the arena was full that time too.

Does anyone know of someone that won a prize in their contest??????

I wasn't offended by that. In fact, I thought it was pretty dang funny. These XGames guys look more like punk kids terrorizing a mall security guard trying to enforce a "no skateboarding" rule in the parking lot than athletes to me.

    I agree. They are athletes.

Let me ask something. Do people consider race car drivers or gymnasts athletes?
    Just here. Nowhere.

I'm not into Extreme Sports, but from what I understand, these guys are at the top of their field. This, in my opinion, is what separates what Disney / ESPN is doing this summer from what the other theme parks (Knotts, Legoland) are doing with their Xtreme promotions. I think these guys deserve a lot of respect for what they do, for what they do (even if you're not into it) is pretty darn incredible. So yeah, I think Al's comments are pretty naive and childish. After all, these athletes are participating in the Olympics of extreme sports next month.

I agree...cheap shot. Why am I not surprised though.

So Al doesn't consider them athletes, huh?

Oh nevermind. As usual, the joke writes itself.

Look, everyone, Walt said it best himself when he said that you try spectacular things, sometimes you get spectacular failures (paraphrasing). I think that applies to DCA as well as X-games.

I do think that Lutz had a point way back when he commented that Disney really limited their scope of ideas by using California only. My only thought as to why they did DCA and not, say, Disney's America is that if, by some stretch of the imagination, DCA was a rip roaring success, they could turn around and make a Disney's Florida Adventure, Disney's Tokyo Adventure, Disney's French Adventure, etc. Of course, if they went ahead and did Disney's America, they could branch out and build Disney's Europe, Disney's Asia, etc. Just a thought.

Other than that, Al Lutz eats worms.

Agreed. I actually wrote one in one of my earlier posts, but removed it before posting because I felt it was too obvious already.

NOTE TO READERS: YellowMan has been known to joke around from time to time. Please don't take some posts by him to their full, literal meaning. Doing so will most likely end in one of the following: making a fool of YellowMan, making a fool of yourself, making a fool of Ronald Reagan, drymouth, or in rare cases, death. Thank you and enjoy your stay.
