First time to California Adventure - Disappointing!!!

Hey i just got back from Disney California Adventure and that park is weak!!!

Ok first, why when you buy a one day ticket to the park do you have to choose between California Adventure and Disneyland? Why can't you switch parks? That in itself was dumb.

If i'm only there for one day, i'm NOT gonna pay $99 for a two day pass (so i can switch parks). They should let you jump parks with just the one day pass.

    What a rip-off!!!

I arrived with my friend at 11AM and by 2PM we had done just about everything there was to do in CA Adventure. Half of it was boring. The best things in the park were "Who Wants to be a Millionnaire" and the Aladdin show.

Soarin over California was like an upgraded version of Star Tours. It was ok but those kinda rides are getting played out fast.

Muppets 3-D was cool but really who would want to watch that thing more than once? I liked the old Captain Eo at Disneyland way better. At least Eo had up tempo music and dancing and stuff. It had more replay value.

Back to "Who Wants to be a Milllionnaire"...the attraction is cool but i think its FIXED! Ok i went to the show two times and the first time the winner called up to the hot seat was in seat 48 or something like that. She passed cuz she recently had been chosen. So they went to the next person on the scoreboard who just so happened to be in the next seat over...seat 49. They passed for the same reason. The person called up was in seat 50. Ok whats the odds of that??? Three people sitting right next to each other being the top three? When you have to answer the questions that fast.

The second time i went to the show, another woman has a friend sitting next to her who just recently was called up to the hot seat (earlier in the day).

So either the shows fixed or theres some trick to those control panels so that you can answer the questions faster.

Aladdin was cool. Probably the best thing in the park.

Why the heck they are building Tower of Terror when they already have a free fall-type ride boggles my mind. Why not build something totally different? That park lacks alot of originality,

Case in point...the rapids ride. I think every amusement park in So Cal has one of those already.

Oh yeah...i went on a Friday and alot of the food/concession was closed. Whats up with that? The asian food place was closed and the food place by Bugs Life was closed.

If i wanted to eat McDonalds, i could drive down the street. Not come to Disneyland to eat it. Open up an original burger place!

Well overall i give the park 2 out of 4.

They should just connect the two parks cuz CA Adventure by itself is not worth $50.

TOT isn't a freefall ride, it is quite different from Maliboomer in many repects.

This is like saying DL already had the Matterhorn, why build any other coaster.

    You are kidding right?

    >>Why the heck they are building Tower of Terror when they already have a free fall-type ride boggles my mind.<<

A couple of notes. First, the Maliboomer is a space shot, not a free-fall. It shoots you UP, not down. Second, ToT is not a mere free-fall ride, as Hippie said above. While it does have that aspect, it is a themed experience, or at least the WDW version is.

    >>Ok first, why when you buy a one day ticket to the park do you have to choose between California Adventure and Disneyland?<<

Because they are TWO parks, not one.

You couldn't have possibly finished the park in 3 hours.

Seeing Millionaire twice would have taken about an hour.

Aladdin is a 40 minute show.

    Muppets is around 10-15 minutes.

Soarin' takes about 20 minutes to complete.

That's already 2 1/4 hours. Did you really get through Screamin, GRR, Maliboomer, Animation, Bug's Land, and eat in 45 minutes?

I'll agree on the McDonald's thing. ToT though is very different and I like GRR and who cares if every park has something similar if they are all differently themed. Soarin' is a different experience from Star Tours IMO. I love the ride.

On the ticket thing. They are two seperate and distinct parks. Maybe Disney should explore the idea of a one day park hopper. It could be like $60 maybe. I wonder if people would buy it?

The park wasn't that crowded that day so yes i did do everything in just about 3 to 4 hours. I think the place is losing ALOT of money, hence alot of the concession/food places being closed. And this on a Friday in the middle of summer.

The only ride getting any real attention was the rollercoaster, i think mostly cuz Space Mountain is closed so the people from Disneyland come over to ride a fast ride.

Tower of Terror and free fall rides in general are PLAYED OUT. Every amusment park in the country already has one. You can drive an hour to Magic Mountain and go on theres which is probably higher and scarier than TOT.

And why build a replica of another ride? That thing is old even at DisneyWorld. Its not gonna draw in anyone.

What happened to the days of Disney parks having original creative rides?

They just like building cliche rides now.

MM has Superman: The Escape. That's not the same as a drop ride. It's actually a loud roller coaster.

They also have the old Free Fall ride. But that's only 10 stories and throws you on your back. Very uncomfortable. Very short.

TOT is what Disney does best. Takes the ordinary and adds a theme to make it extraordinary.

    I'm just gonna say "troll."

Are you at all familiar with TOT? It is not a freefall ride. You should really find out more about it before you assume that it is the same a freefall ride at a SF park.

It is a highly themed attraction with an elaborate queue and backstory (WDW TOT anyway), and the ride mechanism pulls you down and shoots you up repeatedly; this is a different experience/sensation from a freefall ride.
