[QUOTE=woody]Al's recent article was the most depressing to me.

The state of Tomorrowland and especially the Monorail is truly a crime to Walt.

oh please,MiceAge could make world peace sound bad...when are his articles uplifting? the man will only report the negative
I go to the DLR every weekend almost,I dont notice half the negative stuff AL finds....AL goes to DLR looking for bad,of course hes gonna find bad.... DLR isnt perfect, but niether is USH or any other theme park.

"Now, the monorail... if you have only three in operations, can't get new one's and are using the 4th for spare parts, it only makes sense to reduce the wear and tear on the aging fleet you have. It's a simple preventive maintenance technique used everywhere in the world. It would be nice to have new, but if the money isn't there, I give the facilities guys credit for being creative in how they can keep the things running."

exactly, what does Al expect Disney to do? Disney is shopping around for a new monorail fleet...in the meantime it wants to cut the wear and tear of its current fleet by reducing usage...I see nothing wrong in that! In fact I think its the righ tthing to do...Disney is really damned if they do and damned if they dont with this,if they cut back monorail useage Al will say how horrible it is and blah blah blah (which he already did),but if they dont cut monorail usage and god forbid the monorails break down and someone gets hurt etc, then Al is the first one crying about how Disney didnt take steps to reduce the wear and tear....we WILL eventually get new monorails, and I think we will get them soon,we just have to find a manufacturer to build them,in the meantime we might have to sacfrice using the monorails reguarly...its no big deal.

If Bombardier can't/won't build us new monorails, who do you think will do it Chris? I can't think of any other manufacturer currently making monorails. Boeing no longer makes urban transportation vehicles, and Alweg has been out of business for years as I understand it. Who else is there? Where will these monorails come from if Bombardier is out of the picture? How does one "find" a monorail manufacturer if the one and only company that does that sort of work won't do it?

Anaheim did not pull out of the second gate project, as is evidenced by DCA's existence today. Putting DCA instead of WESTCOT into the site was Disney's decision, not Anaheim's. And despite common misperceptions, it had almost nothing to do with HOME, the organized local opposition. It did have a lot to do with EDL's less than stellar performance out of the gate, however.

I think the 50th is going to be spectacular. I think they will try to have a new e-ticket, in one form or the other. What negative, and largely unsubstantiated, publicity does is put a chilling effect on the 50th. If people believe nothing is going on, then no interest will be generated.

I have been a visitor to the park for the past 10 years and DL is more fun than ever. I like DCA. I think it was a great addition, along with Downtown Disney. The entire experience is much more immersive. Come on, do we really think Disney will let DL's 50th go without a huge celebration?

Al always asks if the Disney suits read his columns, does Al read this one?
    Some imagination, huh?

I read in the paper that Hitachi makes the monorails for Tokyo Disney.

I never said they pulled out of the second gate project, but Anahiem didnt like how "big" in scope WestCot was,so they didnt approve it....Eisner was all for WestCot,I mean he went as to far as to ask for approval and basically green lighted the project unitl ANahiem told him NO.
