    New MiceAge Article 7/24

    Typical Al Lutz article.
    http://www.miceage.com/allutz/al072403a.htm
Let me start from the top:

"As a matter of fact, I was just discussing this just the other day with a reporter for a major financial paper. She had asked what was new at the resort and I detailed what you had been reading here before (and will read today) and explained that if this was a "once in a lifetime trip" her readers should probably wait a bit. "I saw the photos of the condition of the park," she replied, "It isn't what it used to be is it?" No I said, until they either find their way or fire some more of those clueless suits out back and in Burbank."

Well Al, I'm sure you didn't say anything to make it better, right? See, by this article, you're turning people (people who have no idea how negitive you are) away, causing a slight attendence decrease, and you're going to make it seem like it's the end of the world, right?

"You could literally hear some from the crowd let go sigh in disappointment at the typical assault of Disney Hyperbole and Hoopla."

Gee, I donno- maybe it's just you?

    "snore."

    Go to...

"Want to know why Cynthia Harriss or her top execs haven't said a single thing of any substance about plans for the 50th Anniversary?

    Here's why..."

    Like you know why...

"Don't feel too jealous of Epcot however. As we told you previously the new Epcot attraction will be a direct clone of Soarin' Over California, including the ride film. Although the pre-show will differ a bit, the ride experience itself will be an identical copy of the DCA version. Will tourists from the Midwest and East Coast realize they are flying over the Anza Borrego desert, a cloud covered Lake Tahoe, or the busy Harbor Freeway? Will the average East Coaster recognize the fairly anonymous San Diego skyline?"

That is exactly what isn't the truth, Al.

"With Space Mountain closed for at least two more years, and nothing green lighted to fill the empty Tomorrowland buildings, it couldn't get much worse could it?"

What happened to the Buzz thing that you said would come? Don't blame TDA on your mistakes.

"As we previously mentioned, the Facilities department has realized that the badly aging monorail fleet is in need of serious help. The first choice was to scrap the 35 year old train chassis and the 16 year old car bodies in favor of all new trains built by Bombardier. However, when Disney sent a proposal to Bombardier to custom build a new fleet of trains for Disneyland's narrow beamway, Bombardier said "Thanks, but no thanks.""

Oo, that's right, but that isn't Disney's fault is it?

"Want even more bad news? TDA is also considering removing the Monorail system as an official "attraction," and only allowing Park visitors with a valid Disneyland Resort Hotel room key to use the trains on a one-way basis only to and from the Downtown Disney station. The Facilities department is currently trying to create a plan that could nurse the Monorail fleet through the 50th Anniversary and later in to the decade when the money may be found to buy new trains. But the easiest thing to do at this point is to drastically reduce the daily wear and tear put on each train, and so a "Hotel Guests Only" policy is likely on the way with the newly downsized fleet.

And with that final blow, Tomorrowland looks like it will be down for the count in 2004."

That's bad news? That can save the monorail- and plus, Autopia isn't a bad attraction.

"The CircleVision building will likely not see a Buzz Lightyear ride being installed."

    Thank you, oh trustworthy Al.

    "DCA Cutbacks - Part I"

You just had to complain about DCA huh?

"They tell us at Honey that we can only go 101 for loss of projector but they seem to find it ok to call us code 100 because a bunch of big shots have a meeting in there. Just wanted to let ya know."

You're just mad that you didn't get in there.

"Eisner still gets his bonus, which I guess means you get fewer hours. That's what happens when you cut your way to a profit, instead of running things well enough to bring in the cash. Sadly DCA's failures are still costing the sister park dearly."

Oh my god, stop making things seem like they are a terrible thing- it's getting old.

    "Bad show!!"

Merchandise is coming soon, and even if we don't have some now, that is no way bad show.

"From the previews it looks so Phantom of the Opera to me in its design James. It has sort of the same glossy baroque look that they did for Beauty and the Beast for Broadway, if you know what I mean."

You're desperately looking for things to complain about eh?

"Lisa, I think Dan is an excellent cut and past guy on the computer. "

I think you're an excleent speller Al!

"But I'm glad you put you comments in writing - they do have to deal with that at some point. Let's hope the upcoming Haunted Mansion movie premiere doesn't mess up the park like Pirates did."

It didn't mess up the park- it boosted attendance.

"I have a huge problem with upgrading my computer's hard disc"

    Really?

    THE END...

    ::yawn::

    Buzz is not canned.

The castle will not be painted gold.

The Innoventions stuff was known months ago.

Typical apocalyptic Al. I'll let you know when I care.

There will be announcement for the 50th. Disneyland is having new entertainment values for the 50th. Will we see a new attraction for the 50th? I don't know yet, not even Al knows because the decision is still pending. That's right folks, pending...

I for one am disappointed about Epcot getting a huge e-ticket attraction. I was hoping Disneyland would plan for another e-ticket they had just like on the 40th. However, I am excited for the new entertainment values the 50th has to offer.

One thing that a very good friend always reminds me...we got a new theme park in 2001 just yards away from Disneyland. Some like the park some don't...but that is worth more than one e-ticket. Which he is right! But still...

I agree SM it would have been great! I almost forgot! But how about a new e-ticket for the 51st? How about the announcement for the new e-ticket during the 50th? And all the new Disneyland 50th events/entertainment/exhibits?

I kind of agree with the "why build an E ticket on the 50th since people will come anyway" logic, but it's been so long.

Are you hinting at the possibility that an E would open in 2006? I thought DCA was gonna get something then.

I'm not a big fan of exhibits. I'm anxiously awaiting the removal of Parade of the Stars. I think seeing that leave is more exciting then seeing a new parade. I hope the new parade is good.

If this happens, and the E-Ticket in question is an original ride and not a clone, then I would be very excited.

The "One Man's Dream" exhibit for Walt's 100th at WDW is excellent! They have tons of models, props, artwork as well as Walt's old cameras, models he built, Animatronics you could play with....If DL gets something like THAT for the 50th, it would be very cool.

Well...if they somehow could fit Mysterious Island from Tokyo into Tomorrowland, I wouldn't complain at all....heck, I'd wet myself!
