They are probably just getting rid of inventory. We bought Nftysqrt's renewal the day before just in case they decided to pull the old prices.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

Disney is making it a lot tougher to do Disneyland on a budget.

Use the payment plan. The $649 Premium Annual Pass only costs $10.81 per week. That's less than the cost of a movie ticket.
If you average two visits a week (some locals do more), that's less than six bucks a trip including parking.
Can you really complain about that?

It's also a positioning reason for Disney, and most likely, long overdue.
"Premium" implies... well: premium -- not everyone will have it. Those who can justify the cost ($11 bucks a week) will get it, those who cannot justify it will not. (Personally, I can't justify it this year... but that's just me. I'd rather go twice and spend the $100/day or whatever it is.)
How many millions of people within an hour of the park had Premium Passes? Were they really Premium at that point?

we average around 10 visit per year with a family of four so it's still a good deal to buy the so-cal AP for us. even with the price hike. And if it reduced some of the crowds would be nice but it most likely won't.
how about the hotel price hikes...we use to stay in the Disneyland hotel all the time a few years ago for under a hundred bucks a night. even stayed once at the Grand Californian for $250, just to say we did it. but we just refuse to pay $300-$500 and up per night on a weekday for a room there. can stay a week in Vegas for that much...lolIf there's one thing I hate, it's all the lines, lines, lines, LINES!! And then there get to be so many people that they make FastPass. So then there's lines for FastPass. You stand in line to get a ticket to stand in line later.
very wise cartman very wise indeed

What has caused Disneyland not to have an Off Season? Once upon a time that existed...

I think they are a victim of their own success and are basically surrounded by an ever growing population but have a finite amount of space to put those extra people. For every 2 people that never come back, 10 new people replace them. Year round schools and vacations are more spread around than the traditional 'peak periods' of summer and the traditional holidays. and in a 'down economy' people need a "Happy Place" more than ever

We average about 25 visits per year and have deluxe passes. Still an incredible deal. We mostly eat in the parks but usually stay at good neighbor hotels as we are mostly in the park and wouldn't really use the extra amenities of the Disney hotels.
